markturner1960 Posted January 29, 2023 Posted January 29, 2023 (edited) Hi, I am having trouble getting the tanker to respond in both the DCS supplied and a self made refueling mission. Both use the KC135MPRS. According to the F1EE instant action brief, radios are already set, in my mission I have set the default channel to the tanker as well. However, i get no response on contacting the tanker...Any tips / ideas? I should add, I am simply calling up the comms menu and selecting the various F1 etc options to contact the tanker, i have not used any radio controls or switches. I am lifting the cover on the fuel transfer switch and setting it forwards - is this all that need doing to re fuel? I have checked the manual but information is scant on the full procedure..... bones1014 Posted January 29, 2023 Posted January 29, 2023 Maybe double check that you have the green radio selected before transmitting? 1
MAXsenna Posted January 29, 2023 Posted January 29, 2023 Maybe double check that you have the green radio selected before transmitting? Both radios should be tuned correctly according to the mission briefing.Anyway, I use VAICOM and everything works without even touching the radios, (only transmit). So who knows. Cheers! Sent from my MAR-LX1A using Tapatalk
turkeydriver Posted January 29, 2023 Posted January 29, 2023 Just to be annoyingly clear. Having the radios tuned doesn’t allow transmit. You need to select either the green or red radio by pushing that button in- then use your transmit button. Your red radio will not transmit when this happens. 1 VF-2 Bounty Hunters https://www.csg-1.com/ DCS F-14 Pilot/RIO Discord: https://discord.gg/6bbthxk
markturner1960 Posted January 29, 2023 Author Posted January 29, 2023 (edited) As far as I know its selected when you enter the mission....I checked in the mission editor, 251 ( tanker freq) is set as pre set 1 for both radios. Both radios show "1" as being selected in the winodws when you start the mission.....although for the green radio, the thumbwheels are set at 127.5 which button please? Its not clear from the manual.....Thanks! and the PTT button is nothing to do with any of it, correct? Edit - figured out the red or green selector button.....defo green is down and selected. Still no joy from tanker.... Can someone who has flown the mission give me a flow of what exactly they do from start of the mission? My flow is thus: Get jet trimmed level. open transfer switch cover. Put transfer switch forward. Get comms menu up. Select tanker-texaco, then inbound for refuel...... What have I missed? As I said, radios appear tuned correctly, green selected PS, annoyingly clear is great! I just wish the manual or mission briefing was!! Vibora Posted January 29, 2023 Posted January 29, 2023 You need to select "P" mode (preselected frequency) in the frequency selector switch. Did you do that? 1 Roberto "Vibora" Seoane Alas Rojas [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

markturner1960 Posted January 29, 2023 Author Posted January 29, 2023 (edited) Thanks, I had not done that.....the green radio was set to "Man", so I tried setting it to one click right to "Pre" ( Which I am assuming is pre set, I am using the English cockpit mod) And the switch I am turning is the one under the thumbwheels, I assume thats the switch you are referring to? However, I still got no reply from the tanker.....there is another similar switch to the left of the "Sw" switch that was also set at "Man". I set this one click right, to "A" ( Or it may be " F1", I could not discern the text well enough. Once both of these were set one click right from "Man", I could raise the tanker..... Got there in the end. ! Thank you, but some notes on this procedure in the mission briefing or manual would save a lot of frustration ....... And managed to fill up first go with only one disconnect, so happy days!! Awesome! It's strange as I didn't need to change any of the switches.I had three disconnects myself on the first try, but still happy!Cheers! Sent from my MAR-LX1A using Tapatalk
