Turn out the lights SAM site

Hi,

I've been trying the "Turn out the lights" mission for the Viper a few  times, but I always get shot down by the SAM site near the target. According to the briefing this site should not go active before a few minutes have passed, but it seems to me that they go online the second I enter the range ring. 

 

I've tried flying low (< 200ft) from before I enter Iranian airspace, but it didn't seem to make any difference.

 

Any tips would be greatly appreciated

I'm having the same issue. I get shot down as soon as I climb to 8000 at WP 5. Also my targeting pod goes lame when I switch from WP 5 to WP 6.

It's been a while since I flew this one, but I believe it was the wingman that was messing up everything. Try to tell him to RTB and do it by yourself and see if that makes it possible.

Also in real life...if the waypoint is set to 12,000 ft etc...would pilots fly those pre planned altitudes? in this mission the WP 1,2,3 are 12,000 ft.

WP 4 is around 600 ft so I dive down

WP 5 is 8000 feet so I pop up just a few miles before reaching.
 

Is that how it would be done in real life? Follow the altitudes of the wp's?

Also, my TGP goes stupid whenever I switch from WP5 to 6 and doesn't look at the target...and wont let me slew the spi

I get shot down by a Mig-29 that follows me as soon as I dive down to WP4.  E-3 also gets shot down by either Mig-29 or Mig-21, and Wingman is Bingo before even reaching WP3, while I still have 10,000 lbs remaining.  Not sure how Mig-29s and Mig-21s came into the picture, as I never even get a warning from the E-3.
