@prestonflying, @ANDR0ID, @Wostg,

Stumbled upon this tonight, outstanding effort gents, love your work!

Serious question; what’s the number 1 DCS module each of you would like that you’re missing, either to work on for this project or just to fly?

Let me know and I’ll gift each of you, this is amazing work and I want to say thanks in the best way I can.

Cheers!

Nick

Extremely generous of you and unexpected. prestonflying deserves the vast majority of the credit on this project, but offers like yours reflect what I enjoy about the DCS community... folks being willing to help others so we can all enjoy DCS. The projects I've been fortunate to work on or publish have only been possible thanks to the shared work and support of others in the community.

Y'all are very welcome!

I'll keep an eye on the forum and if I see a hint of 'I'd love to try that but don't have the module', then I'll jump in ;).

I just updated DCS to the 'one unifying' version, and the universal UFC's are no longer working fo me.. anyone else having this issue?

When I went to re-copy the WWT folder back into the Scripts folder I did notice that the 'standard' wwt folder was not there.. related?

Thanks in advance!

Just flew in the Mi-8 on the latest DCS build... no issues for me. To double-check, the latest update merged Open and Stable correct? I didn't need to specifically swap the unified build? If not correct, then I can do some further digging.

With that said, if your WWT folder is gone, you may need to restore it via SimAppPro, then reinstall the universal UFC files.

Let us know if we can help with further troubleshooting to get it back up and running.

@nick_thain Welcome to the party! Glad you are enjoying the add-on and thank you for the kind words! If your offer still stands, the F-4 would be awesome to try as it nearing release and will be the most detailed module to date. And let us know if you have any missing features you'd like added in return for a module you fly! Happy to adjust/fix any features

@ANDR0ID Couldn't agree with you more mate, I love this community as well. For me, it goes a long way towards replacing the community I had while I was serving in the Aussie Air Force (that's me in my profile pic getting some back seat time in the legacy F/A-18B). Retired in 2013 after 23 ridiculously fun years, and it took me a while to figure out that DCS is more therapy for me than hobby. Love being a part of forums like this where we're all helping eachother out.

FYI, my issue earlier was operator error; I was in the DCS Open Beta folder, not Saved Games. Once I figured that out, back up and running 🙂

Thanks again!

@prestonflying, send you a message to arrange getting that F-4 in your hangar 😉

Hi, it’s actually a great mod! Thank you!!! Is it possible to use it with the superbug mod? So i can have the same ufc data like in the legacy hornet? I installed the mod and it only shows me brc, v, speed and so on

Posted

And the next phase begins, working on something new! Going to be spinning up a new mod made for the F16 that is stand-alone (unlike the F18 Universal UFC mod which requires SimApp Pro)

Here is a screenshot of me getting data on the ICP (took a little while to figure out, but now onto the fun part of making software that talks to it using data from dcs)

This is exciting because ALOT more data can be shown on this ICP DED compared to the F18 UFC. My ask from you all is to start thinking of the ideal way to use this! Think big.

My current plan, a small stand-alone program that is open source and allows text to be written to the screen. Perhaps stand up a UDP protocol so DCS Export lua, SimConnect, etc can send data to be drawn to the device. If this goes well, I can port this over for the F18 Mod then SimApp Pro will not be needed for custom use of these screens.

This would allow developers/community to use this device for any game. Let me know your thoughts! Thanks

Awesome! I guess the obvious thing would be to have default be crammed full of loget commands - Speed, AOA, VSI etc etc.

Then you have all the key display indicators - Apache, F15e, KA50...

But on the wild side of things you could turn it into an RWR... or the trench run computer....

[do not buy this. I don't have the money. I don't have the usb ports, no...]

I can think of nothing heavier than an airplane
I can think of no greater conglomerate of steel and metal
I can think of nothing less likely to fly

Some limitations of the screen, it an LCD Matrix display that is around 64x200 ish. So we can not put display exports such as RWR, or HUD on it. But we can write strings on it.

So Speed, AOA, gear state, flap state, missile selected, etc. It supports A-Z, 0-9, * unlike the hornet UFC which has limitations on characters on each window.

@prestonflying I was actually tracking this in the other thread, it’s amazing the progress you’ve made!

First thing I can think of would be scratchpad, like in the AH-64 and F-15E? I’m loving my ICP for the F-16, but it feels like a crime to have it folded back behind the UFC when I’m using that 😉

Hey I know this has been asked earlier in the forum, but I’m currently mapping my controls for the A-10C II, so I feel I must check again; what’s different about the A-10C II module that only allows the 5 static displays and the blinking MC?

Don’t get me wrong, I love this mod! Just seems like there would be so much in the A-10C to export!

This came up a few months ago... when I tested the the Super Hornet mod at the time worked straight out of the box since its based on the F-18. If memory serves, this was before I developed a "general" profile so that may be causing a conflict. I wasn't a huge fan of the Super Hornet mod as I seem to recall it replaces some core files (ie not a saved games mod), but I can probably take another look since it seems like there is still community interest and things may have changed from the last time I looked at it.

Nothing per say is prohibiting the export of other data for the A-10C or A-10CII... The current profile was intended to mimic the A-10C UFC (right term?) which only needed static elements. As an update, the master caution was added - admittedly mostly for fun as I was learning to code for this project, but also to add a dynamic element to the profile (original profile by prestonflying was static only). It could be updated, but I think the profile is useful given the A-10C layout and using the WinWing UFC to control functions instead of having to use the mouse cursor in the cockpit.

@ANDR0ID would be really nice and cool if you could take a look at it. I fly ne super hornet a lot and everytime it annoys me that the winwing ufc is empty. I had hope with the universal ufc mod but couldn’t find a way to get it done. I mean actually it should be simple because its the sams ufc?!?

I don’t know I‘m very bad in developing

Please give me a link to the SuperHornet mod you have and I’ll be happy to help work out what needs to be done to support it
That will take some of the effort off Androids hands so they can keep focus on any developments they are working on.

OK, it just seems like DCS is sending the airframe name as FA-18E (and probably FA-18F but not tried it) so the normal WinWing routine doesn't see it as a hornet....which would be FA-18C_hornet

To get round this you'd need to either create a custom LUA for the SuperBug or to trick the standard WinWing script to thinking it is a Legacy Hornet.

This second option could be as simple as putting code in the script so that if it sees the E or F to report it as the C model....

From Line 62 of this modded script is:

                local _self=LoGetSelfData()
                if _self~=nil then
                    if _winwing.mod~=_self.Name then
                        --记录机型
                        log.write("WWT",log.INFO,_self.Name)
                        _winwing.mod=_self.Name
                        local _send={}
                        _send["func"]="mod"
                        _send["msg"]=_self.Name

                        -- Required to trick SimApp Pro into allowing UFC/Com/Scratch pad commands
                        local isF18 = _self.Name == 'FA-18C_hornet'
                        local isF16 = _self.Name == 'F-16C_50'
                        -- To prevent Breaking the ICP, this mod will be disabled when flying the F18 or the F16
                        if isF18 == false and isF16 == false then
                            _winwing.ufcPatch.useCustomUFC = true
                            _send["msg"]="FA-18C_hornet"
                        end

                        _winwing.net.send(_send)
                    end
                end

So all we do is add a check and swap for the airframe name which could be as simple as this:

                local _self=LoGetSelfData()
                if _self.Name == "FA-18E" then _self.Name = "FA-18C_hornet" end
                if _self.Name == "FA-18F" then _self.Name = "FA-18C_hornet" end
                if _self~=nil then
                    if _winwing.mod~=_self.Name then
                        --记录机型
                        log.write("WWT",log.INFO,_self.Name)
                        _winwing.mod=_self.Name
                        local _send={}
                        _send["func"]="mod"
                        _send["msg"]=_self.Name

                        -- Required to trick SimApp Pro into allowing UFC/Com/Scratch pad commands
                        local isF18 = _self.Name == 'FA-18C_hornet'
                        local isF16 = _self.Name == 'F-16C_50'
                        -- To prevent Breaking the ICP, this mod will be disabled when flying the F18 or the F16
                        if isF18 == false and isF16 == false then
                            _winwing.ufcPatch.useCustomUFC = true
                            _send["msg"]="FA-18C_hornet"
                        end

                        _winwing.net.send(_send)
                    end
                end

I don't have the UFC or ICP yet so cannot test this...but hope it helps anyway.

@Trigati Very nice work! I think your solution is correct, I do not have the mod, but I will implement your wwtExport.lua tweak with the renaming of the SuperBug to the regular hornet and perhaps others can test. This lines up with what others saw prior to our addition of the generic profile (The super bug was working).

Thanks, the update should be on github in a few minutes

@Trigati Thanks for your update, great to see others in the community supporting this project! It did give me some time to work on other things... see below.

@prestonflying I finally took the opportunity to test your latest version which addresses some of the issues I was having with other mods and stalling my development. Pull request submitted to update some utility functions and add support for the following mods:

AH-6J

OV-10

SK-60

If there are other popular mods out there I'm missing, please feel free to let me know and I'll looking to building a profile.

Here's the Viggen complete for now (could probably do radios in the same way as QFEs?) and the KA50 I updated a while back

e: updated Viggen to show distance to target in Com2, still show the interval when it is adjusted

Edited above with updated Viggen to make better use of space:

        option1=altimeter
        option2=airspeed
        option3=Data Selector
        option4=Master Mode
        option5=shows Weapon Mode or Interval, if interval is adjusted
        scratchPadNumbers =  shows Data Panel numbers, or QFE if adjusted
        scratchPadString1= e.g. L1
        scratchPadString2= e.g. L1
        com1= shows Fuel or F above 99%
        com2= always shows KMs to next target or D above 99km
        selectedWindows-- first 3 show afterburner stages

Working correctly here. After the two DCS updates, and the two SimappPro updates, I copied again the wwt folder in both places, following the instructions, and everything seems to work.
