Hello,

Looking back at the track I didn't wait for 2 to join (he gets within 1 mile but never forms up), so that's probably where I broke something. I never got any radio/message to press space, no message about climbing, however I did hear the calls for Dodge's engagement. When I left the AO I got a short chit-chat. No radio calls till I was at the tanker, and when I got the split-up message during RTB, matrix stayed with me instead of flying off.

On the newest patch, normal version, 64 Gb ram, 4080 Super, no mods

@RLTick yes you have to wait for him to join you. He will say when he has. Carrying on without waiting for the join as indicated in the brief will break the mission in the way you did. Sometimes the AI wing will take an eternity to join if your constantly doing tight turns. As in the brief, in the campaign  missions where you are waiting on a join, you need to fly at speeds and in a fashion to allow him to join. If you do all should be well. 👍

@Badger633 I'm on my second playthrough of the campaign (I like it a lot, thank you for making it), however the Migs always give me grief. I manage to kill them both without getting hit about 10% of the time, down to luck + flares - therefore I am not confident that I deserve a Pass for this mission. Would you mind at some point when time and other priorities allow posting a video or TacView track on how to defeat them reliably please? Obviously the first Mig always goes down easy with the 120 in TWS but I can never get close enough to the second Mig without getting very intimate with an R-27, even when cranking and firing using the HMD. I watched Flying Kenny's video but in his flight the second Mig appears to not react or do anything while he goes head-on. In my case it always fires when in range. Thanks

Glad you enjoyed the campaign, that's what its all about.

I will have a look at the MIg settings. 

The truth is though that even though we set up the mission and give the Migs certain attributes, weapons etc that is not a static state of affairs. The reason for this is ED is constantly changing AI behaviour. So what they did before one update may be different after.  

I am not sure if there is a caste iron method of taking the Mig out, and perhaps there shouldn't be, but I know what you mean and will look into it.

This is partly why in the next Campaign 'Operation Green Line' I have allowed the player to select how good the AI will be at the start of the missions. 👍

It seems that manpads do not react to the player's plane during low-level flight at the beginning of the second part. Flew twice (angry MIGs🤪) today after the patch. Please check.

Are you saying the mission is working correctly but the manpads are not reacting?

@Shurik75 Did test the mission and the Manpads were engaging if you flew into heir range. Will fly it myself. Do you know what route you flew? This is why track would have been useful.

@Badger633 I suspected that the mods were to blame, but decided to check one guess quickly - flight speed. The first attempt at a speed of 550-580 knots - no reaction from the manpads. The second attempt at a speed of 350-400 knots - the manpads fire as they should. I'm going through the campaign for the third time in 18 months, the first two times the flight speeds were much lower 🙂. Here are two short tracks:

No, no, no. I didn't want that.😄 Let it stay that way if it's confirmed. Fly slow - get a rocket under the tail, if you can fly fast and low - you'll pass without problems.

To be honest that is the general idea, they are a problem, but one that can be dealt with some accurate flying, allowing you to progress to the next part of the mission. 🙂👍

I feel sorry for the money I spent. Migs cannot be shot down. I've tried a hundred times. At the same time, my second one is flying in circles.

HI @4JLX

Unfortunately your wing will not help you this time, this due to a DCS issue which it makes it difficult to designate the same aircraft, (Your Wing), for bombing, which he just did, and air to air engagement.

I will look at it to see if AI updates have changed their actions.

It can be done, have a look at Flying Kennys fly through of the mission. Look at the 27min position where he starts the engagement. Make sure you are using your radar to it's full extent which does take practice. You will note they get missiles off first but he fly's defensively to evade them. Hope this helps.

DCS 2.9.10.3948 - 04.12.2024 Changelog

  • AI aircraft. AI being less aggressive in dogfights and hitting the ground in some cases (additional tuning for WW2 planes dogfight). Tuning for behavior was done, maneuver kill is still possible against AI though.

I've seen this video. There, the second MiG does not launch a rocket even though the distance is already 5 miles. It's easy to kill them in such a situation. Now everything has changed, they are very aggressive.
