Shadok Posted March 5, 2023 Posted March 5, 2023 After changing the keys on my keyboard, upon returning to flight mode, I found that the PNVS faded out when I looked inside the cockpit and reappeared when I looked outside the cockpit. I find this option very convenient, but I am unable to find what I changed that allowed me to enable it. And I don't know if this this an IHADSS option, an HDU option, an PNVS option or something else. Some help would be great. Thanks https://forum.dcs.world/topic/341089-transparent-body-part/
Floyd1212 Posted March 5, 2023 Posted March 5, 2023 (edited) This sounds like the default behavior we have seen with the PNVS since launch. I can't find any threads that discuss it, but apparently the "auto gain" setting is always enabled for the PNVS, when it should be an option you can enable or disable. With it enabled, the gain will change as you look out to the horizon compared to looking at the ground closer to your aircraft. It doesn't have anything to do with looking inside vs outside the cockpit specifically. Actually, I just double checked and the auto gain feature seems to increase the gain when looking closer (inside the cockpit), and decreases when looking to the horizon; opposite of what you are describing. Shadok Posted March 5, 2023 Author Posted March 5, 2023 So maybe it was a bug (but a cool one !). I fly by night over a city, playing with the ACM switch to see if it make difference, but no (or I don't see). Also, when the PNVS fade away it was suddently, not like in your example where your are talking about increasing and decreasing. https://forum.dcs.world/topic/341089-transparent-body-part/

It depends a lot on the environment. Warm water and clouds kill the gain settings completely for example.
