X52 pro + Software problem

Hi all. Got so interested in DCS that I went and bought TIR4 Pro, and X52 Pro yesterday. TIR4 works just great with DCS, but Im having some problems with my X52 and was hoping that someone could help.

 

If I download the software/drivers from Saiteks site, the installer only installs drivers and for some unknown reason always skips the software. Ive downloaded that Software installer a bunch of times now and always the same thing.

 

+ I then installed the SST and drivers from the CD that came with the controller. It starts just fine, but after the install I get an error: "the following files did not self-register or unregister: sai3dviewe.dll - the specified module coud not be found"

 

After this I can finally see the Profile Editor and open it. But when I click anything the whole software crashes each time. Installed this a few times too and googled all I could find but now I have no idea what to try next.

 

So, is there any place to get perhaps a different SST version? (that would work) or does anyone have any other ideas. :helpsmilie:

 

Im thinking of just binding the keys to my HOTAS just from inside DCS:s options. But feel a bit sad about "not getting to use the controllers full potential" if I cant use the profile maker.

What's your OS? WinXP32, WinXP64, Vista32, Vista64......?

 

I guess the versions of the CD drivers and SST software you've donwloaded and the one from the CD differ.

 

Uninstall the drivers after unplugging the stick.

Download the newest drivers and SST software from

or

http://www.saitekusa.com/down/drivers.php

 

and dont mix it with the software for the normal X52.

Be sure to download the X52Pro versions for your OS.

Thx. And oops, rookie mistake: My OS is Vista 64Bit.

 

And yes I originally just downloaded those versions from Saiteks site. Only after they didnt work I installed the one from CD. For some reason that Software-patch always leaves the SST uninstalled. It doesnt even ask. (and when at the end there should be a box to tic "launch Profile Editor", there isnt one). Installer just says "everything is installed" and finishes, but that damn Profile Editor isnt anywhere to be found. Tried both, UK and US versions. Not sure if its a problem with my pc or Saiteks software but its annoying anyway.

 

+ That older cd-version installs, but gives me that error. Thx anyway. :)

DO NOT install the latest non-beta drivers... use the Beta, they fixed tons of stuff and they work fine..

 

if you use the non-beta, you will lose the Saitek function of Right-Shift commands..

Ok so after many hours of tedious struggling I finally found the solution. Those whose happen to have the same problem as I did, the answer is here: http://www.saitekforum.com/showthread.php?p=69564

 

For some reason those Saiteks installers wont work on everyones computer and it leaves the SST uninstalled. Theres a quick fix from the admins.

Same Problem

 

So I see this problem was a long time ago, sadly the link that was provided no longer works because Saitek took down their forums. I experience the same problem, as soon as I click anything on the programming software, it stops working. On the install I got the same error as mentioned in the first post of this thread.

 

Any help would be very welcome. :helpsmilie:

I already tried that procedure, it didn't work. I've tried lots of other threads but then I ran out, I can't find any more on the topic that I haven't tried. Maybe I overlooked some ofcourse, no guarantee. :book:

Do you definitely need the programming software?

I have it installed and to be honest I have never used it, I prefer to set up my controls in game.

Im on Windows 8.1 and had no issue at all installing the software or drivers, didnt on & either.
