At times DL would "reflect" back from a target on the radar as it seems would show readings from other planes radar.

 

Happens on MP, mostly during radar clutter with multiple targets.

After playing for two days I observed the following issues:

1. Less severe: wrong symbology for own aircraft:

  1. ownship thinks its AWACS
  2. ownship thinks he is enemy of itself
  3. ownship shows frequently wrong altitude/speed symbology
  4. ownship range circles refocus on other aircraft

2. Loss of Radar/EOS functionality severely affecting SA, and even ability to acquire target in BVR mode, properly slewed.

  1. Frequent losses of locked target (target remains locked)
  2. Unexplainable loss of DL target (detected through own radar)
  3. False/true targets shown in wrong location at random

This unlike previous issue occurs not only in MT, but also in ST. This results typically with total degradation of situational awareness.

@PVNKdo you have anything to add, and do you have idea how to capture the TRK for all these defects?

Yes, Datalink is totally broken right now and desperately needs an overhaul.

He stole my DLZ + jamm strobe indication and is getting away with it!

Targets that are detected or locked by the own radar don't show at the correct position on the datalink screen, they jump around to totally incorrect location.

A good opportunity to also fix Su-27 plane to plane datalink not working in multiplayer while the datalink code is being worked on!

data link in MP was never a feature for the FC3 aircraft, we have however requested it, I have no news other than that.

 

We still have a request open but I can not promise anything currently.

@BIGNEWYI believe you merged bug caused by last MT of prior bug report with actual feature request to have multiplayer player-to-player. Or does this mean we actually get player to player DL at the end?

I will try to find the thread where this was also reported...

Please bare in mind the the FC3 data link was not intended for MP in the initial design. 

But we will take another look

@BIGNEWYthis issue appears to have appeared with 2.8.3.37854.1. I think that yesterday's 2.8.3.38090 fixed the issue. Played yesterday briefly with both ST and MT, so a bit more testing would be needed to be sure. I hope @PVNKcan confirm the same...

Sadly, the issue is still there.

I happened to me in ST. TRK is slightly larger than 50MB, so please download from here:

Initially it did refocus briefly on AWACS, and the became normal again. When I reached the congested part of airspace over Kutaisi, the things started to act weird again.

Bug is definetly still there. But it could be that it is more likely to appear on high playercount servers.

In small 4v4 scenarios it did not occur. Meanwhile on Growling Sidewinder with 64 players the datalink screen is all over the place.

 

It is also not limited to the multithreaded version of DCS. I run singlethreaded and have this issue.

This bug is already heavily exploited on online servers.

The bug can be easily triggered with lot's of targets, e.g. TALDs.

After this the DL permanently stays in broken state and does not recover.

Any update on this?

Thread is marked with track needed, but a track was posted by okopanja a few posts above on March 24.

This bug totally messes up the HDD of the Su-27 on populated servers.

@BIGNEWYwe'd really appreciate some input here. 

There's a considerable population on multi-player DCS servers who fly flankers, and frustration is growing. HDD turns into complete chaos and is almost unusable at times.

it needs to be reproduced in a short as possible track replay for debug. The long tracks are no good in this case. 

I have asked our MP testers to take a look at it also.
