TripleTapper Posted March 18, 2023 Posted March 18, 2023 (edited) This was a great Mission, but between missing triggers and user error, it took me about 5 play throughs to complete it. Here are my constructive criticisms plus the good things I liked about this mission. The Bad A Noob like me needs BIFF to tell me when to turn to a waypoint....especially when the triggers are so important. I lost BIFF on two separate playthroughs. Could have been my fault missing triggers or going too fast/slow I had to look up a YouTube video to learn how to use the Divert function. Would have been nice to go through that in a bit more detail Lots of long sections with no talking that could have been used to talk about Divert or other things. The Good Works great with the new ARC210 (See Screen Shot) If you go through the time up front to program in the freqs, you don't even need to refer to your kneeboard! Great Voice Acting\ Hilarious lines When triggers are hit, the results are amazing Really appreciate the "Tour Guide" aspect of the mission. Some really interesting stuff. I would still highly recommend this mission to everyone, but do realize it could take multiple play throughs, but so worth it! I was more than a bit rusty with waypoint creation, but now it's almost second nature. Yes it sucks to have to restart after an hour of playthrough, but on the flip side, the things you keep repeating are not a waste of time and just builds that muscle memory. -Triple Edited March 18, 2023 by TripleTapper 2
baltic_dragon Posted March 21, 2023 Posted March 21, 2023 This campaign is not for the absolute beginners, even though it is a training one. if you're a noob, it will most likely require some repetitions, but it will make you a much better virtual aviator. Completely agree!
Wyverex Posted May 19, 2023 Posted May 19, 2023 I love this campaign! I played the first two Maple flag training campaigns and they were already great but this is an entirely different league. Thanks so much for creating this! I tend to agree with the sentiment about the DIVERT page. Given that the missions already go into so much detail about even fairly obscure things like the IFFCC Test menu, I'm actually surprised that the DIVERT page isn't mentioned at all when going for the landing in Silverbow. That orbit time would be the perfect opportunity. I actually totally forgot about that page while flying the mission and I was wondering how to know once I'm 5 miles out of the airfield. Feels like an inconsistency. I was considering manually going through all the WPs to find the correct one in time. In the end I just winged it and it was ok.
baltic_dragon Posted May 29, 2023 Posted May 29, 2023 Well, Biff is only human and even he forgets to include some stuff in his training For more information, please visit my website. For anyone who runs into issues with this: dial in the airfield TACAN channel (found on kneeboards or the f10 map view) and switch to TCN mode on your HSI. I agree, an excellent training campaign. Learning a LOT about the A-10C.
