This is really a two part question. And I will start with saying that my guess is the RTX 3060ti just can't pump out the frames for VR. I am getting poor fps and quality on my setup but heard OpenXR may improve performance. I just don't know if it will work with PSVR. Here are the questions:

1) Can PSVR use OpenXR?

2) If so, how?

I am brand new to VR after upgrading my graphics card to a RTX 3060ti. I found a good deal on a used PSVR and figured why not give it a try. I play DCS in steam and bought the PSVR IVRY software. It is working but the picture quality is lacking. I am wondering what the issue is, if it is settings or my hardware just isn't good enough. Maybe someone can help? When playing on the monitor without VR, I am running at about 140 fps on Normandy in my P-51D at 1080P and mostly high settings. With VR on and using my PSVR I have to turn most of the settings down pretty low.

With so many layers, IVRY, SteamVR, DCS, Nvidia Control Panel... I just don't know how they interact. Any help would be appreciated.

Computer Specs:

Windows 11, Steam, RTX 3060 ti (OC'ed), 24 GB (dual channel 8x8, 4x4), Motherboard Gigabyte Z390 Auros Elite, Intel Core i5-9600k (OC'ed), 650 Watt PSU (circa 2010), 1 TB SSD.

PSVR is for a Play Station - a console -  not a Windows PC.

If you are using iVRY then it's a SteamVR driver and therefore you can use OpenXR via SteamVR. You'll need to set SteamVR as your OpenXR runtime as described in this post:

However, I expect you will see little-to-no gains from using OpenXR via SteamVR vs OpenVR. The performance and quality will likely not be better.

Thank you Mbucchia. I imagine that upgrading to a better VR setup like a Meta2 won't help? I know DCS is quite a hog for power but I really thought the 3060ti could handle it. If I purchased and installed the Meta 2 headset could it maybe run a bit better?

Well as dburne said PSVR isn't really a device made for PC.

IMO you can only gain from starting to use any headset that is actually made for PC instead... you'll get broader and better platform software support.

3060TI would be on the weaker side for DCS VR unfortunately, depending on headset resolution.  You will likely have reasonable performance with a first gen WMR (lenovo explorer or similar) or a riftS but then the resolution is much lower and clarity not as good.  Something like a Q2/G2 may be possible but you're going to be having to make so many compromises to get the framerate up enough.

I ran the G2 on a 3070  on 2.7 last year, however 2.8 is graphically a fair amount harder on the GPU so the 50-60 fps I could get with the 3070 would likely be 40-50 now.

Thanks Edmuss. I returned the headset and went with a new 32" 1440p monitor and Trackir instead. I appreciate everyone's input.
