Hi all, I've recently bought an X52 Pro HOTAS and the F/A 18 module. I can carry out the cold start training, but as soon as I am in a mission or instant action, the throttles will not switch to idle. i have tried everything I can find online, but nothing is working. I've even removed the HOTAS and still cannot switch the throttles to idle. Any ideas?

I'm using the Right and left engine throttle commands as mentioned. I've followed the startup procedure correctly and nothing is allowing the throttle to move. I've cycled the HOTAS throttle, I've played with the deadzones, I've inverted the axis. Nothing has worked. It'll only work in the training scenario. None of the missions (pre made, or created) or campaign are allowing the throttle to switch to idle

I had an X56 and found that the only thing that worked to get idle/off was to use the keyboard commands.  Could not get them to program to the Hotas throttle.  I did set two separate switches on the throttle to acts as the idle commands, but no joy with the actual throttle handles.

I-9 12900K, RTX 3090, 64 GB, 2TB SSD, Oculus Quest 2, Win 11, Winwing Orion F-16EX Stick, F-18 dual throttle, Thrustmaster TPR pedals.

Is the problem you're describing that the RALT-Home/RSHIFT-Home isn't moving the throttles in-game out of the 'off' position? Or do you mean you can use that to get to idle (you should see the in-game throttles move when you do this) but that your throttle then isn't moving the rest of the range? If its the latter then check that something else (i.e. another controller) isn't mapped to the throttle axis too. I've seen some screwy defaults and duplicate mappings of functions when adding new controllers (e.g. my old CH kit would default map both the throttle controller and the on-stick throttle slider to the game's throttle axis and the 8 way on both devices would get mapped to the POV axes).

Unless you had a throttle with a physical idle detent then would you even want to map it to the throttle? Would be bad news throttling back a bit too far and killing both engines!

Are you using the RELEASE (as opposed to BETA) version of the DCS?  If so, check that you are setting your bindings up in the correct page.  Check at the top left and if you have GAME MODE unchecked in the settings you need to use F-18 SIM.  If you have it checked then you need F-18 GAME.  These options have been removed in the BETA version, but I'm not sure it's made it RELEASE version yet, and no control issue in training but an issue when in a mission sounds suspiciously like this is the problem.

Post a track of what you're seeing will be much more helpful than just describing it (save it from the debriefing window after you close the mission).

This is the track. Everything is set to sim. Game flight mode is not on. No response when I try to switch throttle from off to idle. It is the same regardless of what control method I'm using. I've checked I'm using the correct bound keys. I've even tried changing the key binding.

I'm beginning to get really frustrated with it now.

Try RENAMING your saved games folder, then launch, set up idle and see if it works.  Could be that your bindings file is corrupted.  Are you on BETA or RELEASE?

Since looking properly. Absolutely none of the default keybindings are registering anything at all. Rudder, throttle, auto start. Nothing at all is working. I know the engines aren't running, but I'm sure the pedals should still move like the stick does?!!!

Since you're on RELEASE version, please check that you have the BINDINGS in F-18 SIM (top left corner) and NOT F-18 GAME.  If you are binding them in GAME they will only work in training missions (not sure why they do there).  That would explain nothing working.  The GAME binding option has been removed in Beta which is why I asked that question.
