7Coolhand Posted April 13, 2023 Author Posted April 13, 2023 Got the QPro one day early. Got a bad start, can’t get the link cable (oculus cable) to connect with Oculus app. Updated bios, updated chipset (amd B550 chipset), changed power settings for USB. Not sure more what I can do. Made a quick test with air link and DCS and was that impressed. Sure the clarity and brightness is super but the texts in the F16 was still blurry. I didn’t find any settings in oculus app for display Hz, but DCS reported 72fps. Hope I can get the link cable sorted, else it’s a return.

Ultimately I'll need to reduce my settings until 72fps constant can be achieved. Right. Just to stop you from thinking you are going mad, I can confirm that I have seen your problem with sky and seas. It's a known ASW problem. I didn't see it with your track as my frame rate didn't drop to the point of ASW engaging. Some have said this is only a fault with 4090 cards. What GPU are you using? 1 minute ago, 7Coolhand said: Got the QPro one day early. To change display settings it's under Devices > Meta Quest Pro and Meta Quest Touch Pro > Graphics Preferences. Set it to 1.3x to get clarity back. I've highlighted where in the picture below. null Slugmouse: a finger-mounted mouse button emulator for hand-tracked VR cockpit clicking. Available now! Slugmouse Demonstration Video

Also device setup just above that to enable the Link (Cable). null Slugmouse: a finger-mounted mouse button emulator for hand-tracked VR cockpit clicking. Available now! Slugmouse Demonstration Video

Then, in DCS I set the PD to 1.0. This way, I can clearly read the Course number on the upper right corner of HSI in F16, without leaning forward, essential in flying a DME arc. The other way of doing it is to set the PD in DCS high, say 1.3, then set Quest Pro’s device resolutions to 1.0x. Try both and see which one you like better. I like setting Quest’s resolution to max better. However, you have to remember to dial this Quest device resolution down before you play MSFS 2020, otherwise you get a slide show, 5fps.
7Coolhand Posted April 17, 2023 Author Posted April 17, 2023 I have now used the QPro for some hours this weekend in DCS. I initially had problems with Link cable, turns out that I only can establish contact with the USB C cable rotated, if I turn it around I lose connection. Very odd... - I run in in 80Hz, 1,4x resolution. Most of the time I can keep 80fps in DCS - The clarity is amazing. The cockpit isn't as clear as in the Reverb G2, but the G2 only had the clarity in a small sweet spot. - The FOV is better, don't feel as goggles anymore - The colors and brightness is great, explosions are fun to watch now As an example of how good the screens is: I got chased by a Mig21 on the cold war server, I could see how the shells dropped from the Mig when he engaged me with the cannon from a couple of hundred meters in the merge! An SAM launched maybe from a kilometer and I actually saw the missile drive into the air, not just the smoke During a dogfight I can easily maintain visual contact now without having to turn the head as much as before, just move the eyes instead. 1
Mr109 Posted April 17, 2023 Posted April 17, 2023 I'm about to make the move to QP from the G2. Did anyone do any uninstalls of WMR etc? Thanks Al

slughead Posted April 17, 2023 Posted April 17, 2023 Same here. No need to uninstall anything. You can also use OpenXR Tookit too with the Oculus if you like. 1 Slugmouse: a finger-mounted mouse button emulator for hand-tracked VR cockpit clicking. Available now! Slugmouse Demonstration Video
