liorerez Posted April 9, 2023 Posted April 9, 2023 hi lately I'm experiencing a lot of crashes from dcs, most of the time while playing in online servers. I'm also experiencing frequent FPS drops, while playing - maybe it's related? added two logs from similar crashes thanks! dcs.log dcs.20230409-125429.log
peanuts0441 Posted April 9, 2023 Posted April 9, 2023 Hey, the minimum specs for DCS indicate you need a video card with atleast 8GB of VRAM Your GTX 1060 only has 6GB And the log files show your game crashes whenever loading in a new terrain/scenery area Reduce your in game settings, start with the terrain textures option, you have it set to MAX Turn down the "Scenery details factor" slider Also turn down "Visible Range", you have it set to HIGH Hopefully lowering these settings will reduce the VRAM consumption and prevent crashes

I queried ChatGPT for DCS Windows Pagefile settings and this is the reply that I got: Quote Me: What size should my Windows Pagefile be set to for DCS World ChatGPT: As a general rule of thumb, it is recommended to set the Pagefile size to 1.5 to 2 times the amount of physical memory installed on your system. For example, if you have 8GB of RAM, then the Pagefile size should be set to a minimum of 12GB and a maximum of 16GB. Is this correct? I have not messed with my pagefile size, yet. I have 32GB installed. I did notice a couple stutters here and there while playing MP, on a server that had a ping of 32. Just google it Pagefile can be set to anything Just make sure you have the storage space on that drive for it And also create the pagefile on an SSD, since they are faster than Hard drives, you will see an improvement if you have the pagefile on an SSD, but it will reduce the lifespan of the SSD because of more write cycles 1
