Skyhammer Posted April 22, 2023 Posted April 22, 2023 (edited) Why are the SA-10 search radars so underperforming compared to the Patriot search radar? According to the DCS encyclopedia, the SA-10 5N66M has a maximum detection range of 120/90 km... but in-game it's more like 60 km and the 64H6E Big Bird has a detection range of 300 km in the encyclopedia, again only 170 km like in-game Patriot AN/MPQ-53 Edited April 22, 2023 by Skyhammer
Mike_Romeo Posted April 22, 2023 Posted April 22, 2023 As bigger the target as greater the detection range. Pretty sure those high numbers are for large high flying targets which are much easier to detect then small low flying targets. Not sure about the rings in the ME. My skins

Tarres Posted April 22, 2023 Posted April 22, 2023 (edited) Maybe is the same bug that was in the EWR for years. 120 MILES/300 KM; DCS data is coded in Meters, kilograms and seconds (standard MKS system), so 120000 is wrongly traslated into meters, instead of 300000 (meters from miles more or less). If this is the same case, the BIG BIRD values (in this example) for maximum search are coded wrongly, without the conversion between miles and meters. Was reported time ago I think.
