GBU-54 not tracking laser?

I'm at wits end.  I can use the laser JDAM perfectly well on moving targets in the training missions, but when flying the stranded kilo mission...nada.  I've checked and rechecked that the laser codes match, that I'm lasing before drop (and not IR pointing - did that once before), that TGP is providing SPI.  I've got a wonderful point track which stays perfect and unobscured throughout the bomb's fall.  Time and again, the bomb impacts 300 yards behind the ship - where the SPI was at release.

What else could I be messing up?  If it's nothing obvious I guess I'll capture a track file and call it a bug?

That mission sucks.  The GBU-54 sensor can't see the laser until the nose is pointing towards the ground, and the weapon's unchangeable DCS flight profile takes it on a max glide attitude until it's almost directly over the target.  Only then does it nose down and only then can the sensor can finally pick up the laser.  That means it won't look for the laser until as long as 30-45 seconds after dropping it.  This makes it almost useless for fast moving targets, since by then the target may have moved out of the bomb's sensor or even energy range.

The only way to have a chance of hitting it is to lead the ship with the SPI by a few hundred yards, then go back to point tracking and lasing and hope for the best.

At least when I tried the mission again, the M151L APKWS rockets actually do significant damage to ships now, unloading all 14 at one ship does about 80% damage.  At some point in the past, they would cause trivial or no damage.

Edit:  I've even tried diving (pointing the TVV at the target) and lasing immediately after dropping.  The GBU-54 seems to either ignore the laser or sees it and records where the ship is that moment, and a couple seconds later pitches up into the max glide attitude (a great way to get hit by your own bomb if you're not careful).

Interesting.  And I'm glad it's not just me.  Are you saying that setting the impact angle in the weapon profile has no effect?  I might try that next.

AFAIK it does not.  It only affects the Viper JDAMs, IIRC
