  1. jaylw314's post in DSMS shows empty line for weapon name for GBU-54 (Post Aug 2023 Fix) was marked as the answer
Stable is still on 2.8 when this issue was reported.  It's fixed in 2.9 open beta
  2. jaylw314's post in Selecting Waypoint on CDU/UFC was marked as the answer
I'm pretty sure the only way to select a steerpoint by typing in the number of a waypoint is:
On the AAP, make sure the STEER PT knob is in MSN (or MARK if you want to select a markpoint) Turn the PAGE knob to STEER.  You'll get the STR INFO page on the CDU and/or MFCD Type the waypoint number (or mark point letter) you want, then press the OSB next to the +/-  to select it as your current steerpoint
  3. jaylw314's post in Can't see ILS and TACAN panel was marked as the answer
You want the Move View Up/down/left/right/forward/back keybinds in the View Cockpit category.  I think the defaults are RCtrl+RShift+numpad keys.  These shift your view instead of just rotating them.  It's also a good way to set your desired default head position, move your 'head' around with those keybinds, then press the keybind for 'Save Cockpit Angles' (typ) in the View Cockpit category to make it your default position
  4. jaylw314's post in Is it possible to enter a fractional MAV slew rate? was marked as the answer
Yes, the slew rate setting on the MAV page gets MORE sensitive as it decreases.  Increase it to 8.0 for maximum precision 🙂

  5. jaylw314's post in HOTAS Slew control disappeared was marked as the answer
I think you need to look under 'Assign Axis' and assign the slew control axes (not the keyboard commands) appropriately.
Right-clicking on the device in the Assign Axis screen (not the buttons screen) should also allow you to reset them to default?
  6. jaylw314's post in Cage/uncage velocity vector was marked as the answer
IIRC this has been reported as a bug or not implemented yet.  I'd also point out that caging the VV kind of defeats its purpose in crosswind landings, but more power to you if you want to do it without the help 🙂
  7. jaylw314's post in Weapon Select sequence bind frustration was marked as the answer
Just bind your 3 buttons (A, B and C) to SRM.  Then bind [button A]_OFF to MRM, and [button C]_OFF to GUN.  Now, when you press A, it first goes to SRM, then to MRM when you release.  If you press B, it goes to SRM and stays there.  If you press C, it goes to SRM first, then GUN on release.  Profit.
  8. jaylw314's post in Control Stick Trim Switch Push Button was marked as the answer
Nope, I was wrong, sorry, all the other 5-way switches have a PRESS binding, but not the trim switch.  I suppose it's the same function as the CMD MAN 1 binding, so I bound the trim press switch to the same thing.
  9. jaylw314's post in Any suggestions to make WW OrionII FA18 Throttle TDC smoother? was marked as the answer
I suspect IRL slew controls have much stiffer springs, most sim manufacturers seem to use gamepad type gimbals for economy of scale.  It is possible to be accurate with the slew control, but most people don't have the muscle memory with their left fingers.  It's doable with practice, though.  I have the same throttle and I have X/Y saturations at 100, and curves at 20, for perspective.
If you need to make fine adjustments, zooming in obviously helps.  Quickly swapping FOV's can make this easier.
Many people use the slew control as buttons, which you can do with WW's Simapp software.  I don't, but I suppose it's more predictable since it always moves the same way.
IIRC, you can adjust the sensitivity under the STAT->Throttle MFCD page (I think you have to advance to the second page) There's a OSB labelled "Slew" IIRC, and you can change that value between 1.0-8.0, with 8.0 being the least sensitive.  Of course, that's similar to reducing your axes saturation, and you have to do it every time in the sim, but it does affect the button slewing rate (there's something similar for MAV slewing, I can't remember where that is).

  10. jaylw314's post in Having problems with two axis bindings was marked as the answer
Just to clarify, the Pilot and WSO have completely separate bindings in the Settings->Control page
  11. jaylw314's post in Create markpoint from SPI? was marked as the answer
There is always a SPI, designated by one sensor, be it the TGP, TAD, HMD, HUD, MAV, IFFCC, STPT or MARK (I'm sure I missed something else).  The sensor designating the SPI is always noted in the lower left of the HUD (and nowhere else).
So when you 'set a SPI', you're only really designating which sensor's target is the SPI.  That means if you move that sensor, the SPI will move around.  That's not good for bookmarking stuff or setting a reminder.  I'll often hear people finding something with the TGP, pressing TMS Forward-Long and then slew the TGP around to something else, thinking they set the point on the ground as the SPI.  It does not, it just means that setting TGP as SPI will make whatever the TGP is looking at at that moment the SPI.  So once you slew the TGP, that point on the ground is now lost.
So yes, use markpoints to give yourself reminders.  You have 25 of them, so knock yourself out.  Some other random uses I've found for markpoints:
drop them on moving vehicles every minute or two so you can see a trail of breadcrumbs.  That will cue your vision to look ahead to find them and see where they're going Drop one on your position and one out in the direction of an RWR contact.  Fly a bit and do it again.  Look on the TAD and drop a markpoint at the intersection of those two lines, the emitter is around there Make your HMD SOI and make sure the HDC is on the center cross.  Now when you fly cover for someone attacking, just look at smoke trails and AAA and rapidly mark them.  Note if you want to drop a very accurate markpoint, you can look in the general area and slew the HDC until it's right on top of the target, then drop the markpoint.  TMS Right-short actually drops the markpoint on the HDC.  But if you just want a markpoint in the ballpark, you can just keep the HDC on the center cross If you want to figure out the elevation of terrain nearby, just drop a markpoint on it and look at its info. Draw smiley faces on the ground if you're bored
  12. jaylw314's post in How to create a flight plan on a MP server? was marked as the answer
There isn't one in the A-10C, you'd have to enter each waypoint in the CDU, then add those waypoints to a flight plan.  It's not hard, but it is tedious and annoying.  I'm assuming you know how to enter waypoints and add them to a flight plan?
At least a couple minor shortcuts:
Recall that waypoint #0 is always your initial position, so not really a need to set a departure waypoint if you started on the ground.  You can add the airport waypoint #'s found on the NAV->Divert page (or scrolling through the waypoints) to the flight plan. If you already have a waypoint near your target that you want to change or copy the MGRS coordinates, if it's in the same grid zone and grid square you do NOT have to type in the grid square letters, e.g. if you want to change 38S YJ 123456 to 38S YJ 123456789, you don't need to enter the 'YJ' part
  13. jaylw314's post in GBU-54 not tracking laser? was marked as the answer
That mission sucks.  The GBU-54 sensor can't see the laser until the nose is pointing towards the ground, and the weapon's unchangeable DCS flight profile takes it on a max glide attitude until it's almost directly over the target.  Only then does it nose down and only then can the sensor can finally pick up the laser.  That means it won't look for the laser until as long as 30-45 seconds after dropping it.  This makes it almost useless for fast moving targets, since by then the target may have moved out of the bomb's sensor or even energy range.
The only way to have a chance of hitting it is to lead the ship with the SPI by a few hundred yards, then go back to point tracking and lasing and hope for the best.
At least when I tried the mission again, the M151L APKWS rockets actually do significant damage to ships now, unloading all 14 at one ship does about 80% damage.  At some point in the past, they would cause trivial or no damage.
Edit:  I've even tried diving (pointing the TVV at the target) and lasing immediately after dropping.  The GBU-54 seems to either ignore the laser or sees it and records where the ship is that moment, and a couple seconds later pitches up into the max glide attitude (a great way to get hit by your own bomb if you're not careful).

  14. jaylw314's post in Wind Edit Direction? was marked as the answer
The meteo direction.  There's a mod to put LASTE wind corrections into the mission briefing.
    https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/2080541/
Also the original forum tutorial, although some pictures are broken now:
In addition, OpenKneeboard puts the LASTE wind corrections in the briefing tab:

  15. jaylw314's post in Load Page is missing was marked as the answer
They swapped it out for the COMM page.  You can set it on any other bottom OSB button, but it makes sense to replace the MSG (or STAT) OSB on the right MFD:
Long-press any bottom right MFD OSB to bring up the button menu Press the OSB next to LOAD Press the OSB below MSG It'll replace that button with LOAD and you can do your stuff.

  16. jaylw314's post in "Automatic" hsi steerpoint navigation. was marked as the answer
IIRC, if the STEER switch is in FLT PLN, all steering is done in TO-TO mode, which means the CDI will read correctly no matter where the course arrow is pointed, so technically you wouldn't have to touch the CRS knob.
Of course, if the course arrow is not pointing up, you can really confuse yourself to death...
  17. jaylw314's post in What does HOTAS Pinky Switch Aft (LCtrl-p) do? was marked as the answer
Pinky switch is a 3-way switch on the throttle
forward - Default lights (position on solid, strobes off).  lighting controls disabled center - all lights off aft - Lights according to controls If you want strobes on or position lights flashing, you need it in the aft position, the controls don't work in the other two positions.  I can't remember if formation lights are included in the forward position
  18. jaylw314's post in How do I print the Adjust Controls section? was marked as the answer
It is always at the bottom of the screen in the settings->controls tab (or pick Adjust Controls from the ESC menu in game)
  19. jaylw314's post in axis controls missing? was marked as the answer
    Quick search does wonders:

  20. jaylw314's post in cannot set key bind for active pause was marked as the answer
IIRC, they made a point of moving a bunch of UI and general controls to the individual modules, so if you're flying the A-10CII, it's there now.  Weirdly, it's still in UI layer and allows only for a mouse keybind--go figure.
  21. jaylw314's post in Did something change with the weapons page of the MFD on the A10C-II ? was marked as the answer
I assume you meant DMS switch, not Coolie Hat switch.  DMS left and right cycles weapons when HUD is SOI.
    HOWEVER:
If the HUD happens to be in gun mode, DMS left and right cycles the gunsight reticle mode instead.
That's why manually selecting a weapon fixed it, it switched you out of gun mode into the HUD mode connected to that weapon profile (CCIP or CCRP).
  22. jaylw314's post in Flaps Emergency Retract won't retract the flaps when flaps are in DN position was marked as the answer
If we have the same one, yes.  I've been misreading it, it says the wind blows the flap TO 15 degrees, not UP 15 degrees, so that does match what we're seeing 😁
  23. jaylw314's post in Did the flight model for the A-10C get changed? was marked as the answer
Hmm, now I have a sneaking suspicion it was from updating my joystick firmware, but I don't know how that could be but it still looks ok.  All the curves and responses on the axis tuners still look ok, it's very strange.  Thanks for the info guys!
Update: Yes, it was indeed the joystick firmware update.  Recalibration fixed it, even though it looked fine on all the visual scales <shrug>
  24. jaylw314's post in Question about motor starts. was marked as the answer
The normal automatic start sequence starts fuel flow once the engine starts rotating, so I suspect the answer is no.
  25. jaylw314's post in Question about windmill starts was marked as the answer
You turn bleed air off because it feeds off the engine compressor, causing drag.  That can actually slow down the engine acceleration during a windmill start.  Also why you put the throttle at max and use IGN, because the automatic start sequence when you put the throttle to idle includes opening up the bleed air valve (to the air turbine starter).  Bleed air off = faster engine acceleration
You turn crossfeed on so that both fuel pumps (each powered by one engine) can feed fuel to both.  Nice if the other engine is still running.  If both are out, and you're having to do a manual reversion dive to windmill the engines, it will allow either engine the best chance of lighting ASAP, in case one isn't working (you're also having a very bad day).  Otherwise the left engine would have the advantage since it has the DC fuel pump for backup (why you start the left engine first on the ground).
