Koziolek Posted April 29, 2023 Posted April 29, 2023 My Ryzen 5800x3d runs very close to 90 deg so I am trying to undervolt it with PBO 2 tuner. It works pretty good, with -20 offset it gets 5-6 deg cooler in Cinebench the problem is I have to put the values manually every time. I tried to add the offsets to target line in the shortcut at the end but it has no effect "C:\Program Files (x86)\PBO2 Tuner for 5800X3D\PBO2 tuner.exe" -20 -20 -20 -20 -20 -20 -20 -20 the patch is correct because it opens the PBO but without offsets Anyone has any idea what am I doing wrong?
EightyDuce Posted April 29, 2023 Posted April 29, 2023 Can you not change the values in the UEFI/BIOS? Windows 11 23H2| ASUS X670E-F STRIX | AMD 9800X3D@ 5.6Ghz | G.Skill 64Gb DDR5 6200 28-36-36-38 | RTX 4090 undervolted | MSI MPG A1000G PSU | VKB MCG Ultimate + VKB T-Rudders + WH Throttle | HP Reverb G2 Quest 3 + VD
SCHiZO Posted April 29, 2023 Posted April 29, 2023 You can in fact change the values in BIOS. Also, i would run a longer test than Cinebench unless you are using the 30:00 minute stability test. Whenever i mess around with OC/UV i run Cinebench's 30:00 minute stability test while running MSI's Kombustor, which is a GPU stress test application very similar to Furmark. That way you get the most heat your PC can make and run a stable OC/UV once configured properly. i did not manually enter the timings for each core. i eventually, after trial and error, did -15 on all cores for my 5800X. 1

Koziolek Posted April 30, 2023 Author Posted April 30, 2023 OK, solved, not the shortcut part - I still have no idea why it does not work but I lowered the PBO from Bios. Temps down so I am happy now
Lange_666 Posted April 30, 2023 Posted April 30, 2023 I think i can't do that from my BIOS. What is the setting called? Koziolek Posted April 30, 2023 Author Posted April 30, 2023 (edited) I finally did it from BIOS. It's called the same - PBO, I set it to -15 BTW: I have ASUS x570 TUF Gaming board Edited April 30, 2023 by Koziolek
Bazz_Mulder Posted May 2, 2023 Posted May 2, 2023 Command is wrong. You need to put whole string with values for limits too. Here is example from my .bat file for CO -30 with limit values to make them default max: "PBO2 tuner.exe" -30 -30 -30 -30 -30 -30 -30 -30 150 100 150 0 Kowalsky - "Fox 3" simply means that you have commitment issues
Lange_666 Posted May 2, 2023 Posted May 2, 2023 I don't have the values for limits in the string and it works. + Q: where do you get those limit values from and what does every value represent? Win11 Pro 64-bit, Ryzen 5800X3D, Corsair H115i, Gigabyte X570S UD, EVGA 3080Ti XC3 Ultra 12GB, 64 GB DDR4 G.Skill 3600. "Limits" tab in PBO2 tuner app: These are default limits, PBO CO -30 settings in bios is also limiting EDC to 130A max PBO2 Tuner will not allow to set higher limit then default (you can only make them lower), that's why I have 150 /100 /150 in my bat just to be sure to max them out. Thinder Posted May 26, 2023 Posted May 26, 2023 (edited) Just done that and ran both Cinebench and 3DMark Pro Firestrike at 4K 2 X MSAA. I pushed it to -25 then reverted to -20 because I couldn't see any significant progress, and my GPU Temperature seems to be the limiting factor anyway. I also lowered my GPU Maximum further voltage by 5mV, I don't know if it has much of an impact but I try to lower the overall system/case temperature in anyway I can. I have very good air cooling with 5 X case fans and 1 GPU fan, one of the case fan blows upward from the bottom of the case and 3 of them are Noctua NF-A12Xx15PWM which can mount there and in front of the GPU where the 20mm wouldn't. What I have noticed after setting the voltage to -20 is a slight improvement in performances in 3DMark Pro Firestrike at 4K 2 X MSAA, but not so much a lower temperature. Graphics score 19 596 - 19 550 Graphics test 1 97.23 FPS - 96.97 FPS Graphics test 2 75.82 FPS - 75.66 FPS Physics score 28 975 - 27 993 Physics test 91.99 FPS - 88.87 FPS Combined score 11 094 - 10 999 Combined test 51.60 FPS - 51.16 FPS 3.12 FPS in Physics Test is not munch but I'll take it, it might show when playing DCS-MT in VR.
