I chose the first F-16 in the list, and mainly just sat in the cockpit looking forward. That dip to 36 fps I think happened when I then had a good look around the cockpit and sorroundings. BTW, my settings are now different to what they were in that post I linked to. The main difference is I am now running 4xMSAA. Hope this helps. My spec is in my sig. If you can't see it, you need to activate the viewing of sigs in the forum settings. 1st of all, thx, I turned sigs on. 2nd of all, you dip into 30s? That low? Damn... I didn't expect that. So there is something wrong with DCS optimization of cores usage. ED still has a lot of work to do regarding Multi Threading. I doubt I am much worse with my CPU in VR, will try it tomorrow, and let you know. ps: please install MSI AB app, its good for optimizing your GPU by using Undervoltage, and seeing specs on display (not in VR, but you can see them on monitor while flying). I am really interested the power consumption of your GPU. There is nothing about power consumption in that file you provided.

If the GPU tops out, it's immediately down to 36 fps. This does happen sometimes. I would have to try to fly this mission over a longer time to get a better feel for overall performance. With the missions I fly I can (mostly) stay at 72 fps whilst having a bit of overhead. But there will always be times where it gets too much. In this case it could've been caused by me looking around causing loading from memory / disk? I don't know. The mission I linked to earlier (flying low over Dubai), I could hold 72fps throughout before I went 2 -> 4xMSAA, and now the GPU can't cope and I have to settle for 36 fps. Turning ASW off and having fps fluctuate continually does not agree with me. And this is also not the problem of the CPU it self, but ED, which (still) puts too much work (load) on one single thread (core at the end).

I don't know, but if you look at where the dip happens, you'll see the GPU util suddenly spike. It's at this point that ASW kicks in and drops to 36 fps. At least that's what I think is happening. I would've thought either CPU or GPU can cause ASW to kick in. In the mission the GPU is already running at 80%. I could take some of the load off (-> MSAA 2x or OFF) for a bit more headroom and see if the same sort of thing still happens. EDIT: Retried with 2xMSAA and did not get that dip, and DID pick the 1st* F-16 this time. Still seeing the odd spike in frame time, but in the sim I just see a constant 72 fps. *I was mistaken yesterday when I said I picked the first F-16 in the list, I somehow missed the two at the top of the list and had picked the first in the group of four. The drop in fps at the end is after I switched back to the desktop in Dash. The DCS frame rate counter does say CPU bound, but I don't know how reliable that is. ab2023_07_02_08_26_58_837.hml Edited July 2, 2023 by Hippo System spec: Intel i7 12700k @ stock, ASUS TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 3080 Ti 12GB GDDR6X, Gigabyte Z690 UD DDR4, Corsair Vengeance LPX 32GB (2 x 16GB) DDR4 3200MHz C16, Samsung 980 EVO 500 GB NVME M.2 SSD (system drive), WD Black SN 850X 2TB NVME M.2 SSD (games drive), Thermalright Assassin Spirit 120 Evo Cooler, Asus XG43UQ Monitor, Oculus Quest Pro, Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS Prev System spec (leaving here because I often reference it in my posts): Intel i9 13900KF @ stock, Gigabyte GeForce RTX 4090 Gaming OC 24GB GDDR6X, Gigabyte Z690 UD DDR4, Corsair Vengeance RGB PRO SL 32GB (2 x 16GB) DDR4 3600MHz C18, Samsung 980 EVO 500 GB NVME M.2 SSD (system drive), Samsung 970 EVO 1 TB NVME M.2 SSD (games drive), Cooler Master ML360 Illusion CPU Cooler, Asus XG43UQ Monitor, Oculus Quest Pro, Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS, MFG Crosswind Rudder Pedals
skywalker22 Posted July 2, 2023 Posted July 2, 2023 This is how it looks from VR, when standing still, have to fly, will do it later.
skywalker22 Posted July 2, 2023 Posted July 2, 2023 Taxiing to the runway.... damn... 15-20fps LOL And also 20fps during in the air: Clearly CPU bottleneck! That's also DCS issue. while Multi treading is not yet optimized!
