Pimax Crystal Shipping?

I just noticed on the Pimax Facebook page that they have started shipping to Pre-orders.

It seems still in Beta stage and began shipping from late last month to fulfill pre-order(early adaptors though). Their CEO said volume shipping to start in June and production ramp-up into July & beyond. Given their track record, pls take this with a pinch of salt.

I’m Guessing they’ve been slowed up because they’ve found some problems that need solving but their comms are lousy. If they informed people what the issue was they’d have some buy in. 
 

I’m hoping to will be a great product but there’s very little way of knowing at this point.

Looking at some recent reviews, I pull the trigger on a pre-order.

Seems that with MSFS it is very good and even performing well with a 3080!  From a spec perspective, this HMD as a similar pixel count as my 8KX but more compact, thus resulting in a much clearer image.  My 4080 gives me the opportunity to run my 8KX at native resolution and even at 90hz.  The resolution is so good that I don't even need MSAA, I think the Crystal will be even better with a PPD of 35.  I will lose some FOV but I am already running my 8KX at normal FOV which is around 150 degrees horizontal, not a big loss as I wear glasses anyway.  I also expect dynamic foveated rendering will help improve performance over fixed foveated.  Can't wait to get the crystal!!

Looking forward your feedback after received it! I also keep this on my radar. Seems clarity could even beat Aero.

And lower your expectation as I heard their driver/software not reliable especially in early stage.

I saw that in early reviews and in particular with 30 series GPUs, but seems to be resolve with the first production units.  At least from youtuber MRTV it is not an issue as he tried both 30 and 40 series GPUs with positive results.

Mine is 3090. Saw a decent boost. So assume you should see at least not negative change.
