chaos Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 I don't think this is a problem with BlackShark therefor I've posted this under "General Discussion"... I own a CH Fighterstick without external throttle or rudders. The Fighterstick is recognised by BlackShark however, the "Axis" button remains greyed out. I cannot assign the collective to the Z-axis. In short; I can use the joystick to control the cyclic in-game just fine but I'd like to add the 3rd axis (throttle) to control the collective.... what do I do? The stick is correctly recognised by Windows XP and functions normally (including the throttle function). "It's not the years, honey. It's the mileage..."
Redeye26 Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 i own one and a throttle and they can be tempramental (spelling ?) at times mainly with the BS config and the software for the sticks . I would advise you to get used to the software that comes with the CH because its easy to create conflicts that will play you up . Its not a DCS fault or a CH fault its just computer software doing what it always does in general .There are a few modes to them - Direct mode and mapped mode so some knowledge of the way they work is a must to avoid conflicts . A good referance site for you and the best support you'll ever get for a joystick coming up . The ppl that developed the CH stuff are regulars on this site and will always help you . http://www.ch-hangar.com/forum/ Welcome to the CH club , you wont regret it .
Jagr Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 Are you seeing a third axis in the XP or Vista game controller setup? If not, thats a problem. If you are, and its not being seen by the game, is it available for calibration in the CH control panel? You need to disable programmed mode to calibrate it..then turn programmed mode back on. I have a CH FS Pro and I'm having no problems with it.
ED Team USSR_Rik Posted February 11, 2009 ED Team Posted February 11, 2009 OPTIONS -> CONTROL -> Axis Commands (drop-down CATEGORY list). Now you can assign axis. READ MANUAL!!! READ FAQ!!! ...please. Men may keep a sort of level of good, but no man has ever been able to keep on one level of evil. That road goes down and down. Chibawang Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 Didn't he say that the axis command was unavailable with his stick on that axis? Read post? ;)
HellMutt Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 Hi, I just tried to do what you say and got it to work, so BS does recognize the throttle weel on the left side of the CH Fighterstick. Here's what I did : Create a "map" in the CH Control Manager, have it set up as "Direct Mode" . Make sure that on that map, the throttle wheel is set as DX Mode and Z-axis. Use Test/Calibrate in the CH Control Manager to make sure that moving that throttle wheel does something. Downloaded that map to the Joystick. Close BS, open it again and go to Options - Controls, select "KA-50 Real" and "Axis Commands". If there's anything already selected for "Collective" in the CH Fighterstick column, clear it and then click "Add". In the "Add Assignment Panel", don't touch anything, just move the throttle wheel completely up and down, the Joy_Z was selected automatically (on other occasions, I just selected Joy_Z from the dropdown-box). Click OK to confirm. Now click on "Axis Tune" and check if moving the throttle wheel does anything . Hope this helps, Bart i7 8700K @ 4.4Ghz, Radeon RX 6800, HP Reverb, Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS, MFG Crosswind pedals, Thrustmaster MFD's
chaos Posted February 11, 2009 Author Posted February 11, 2009 (edited) No need to yell, USSR_Rik... I did read the manual _and_ the FAQ. Thanks to everybody who are trying to help... CH Hangar seems promising but I'm unable to try their suggestions at the moment since I'm not at home. Thanks Bart... that's what a I need ... a step by step plan. I'll try it as soon as I get the chance. Edited February 11, 2009 by chaos "It's not the years, honey. It's the mileage..."
Redeye26 Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 It would be a good idea to start your own map and map your own axis out of game in direct mode and then clear all the in game ones and then reset them in game . With my experience with these controllers it is the best way to go and once your familiar it is very easy . I cant help much more without adding walls of text and completely confusing you . A link to a dummy's guide if you've not found it yet . http://www.ch-hangar.com/forum/showthread.php?t=2017 Good luck mate and send me a pm if you get stuck .
Redeye26 Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 Sry Hellmutt , i must've missed your post . I could'nt have put it better . :joystick:
chaos Posted February 14, 2009 Author Posted February 14, 2009 HellMutt, Thanks for your suggestion... The problem was with downloading the map onto the fighterstick. I've got the throttle working now... so much easier than keyboard :-) "It's not the years, honey. It's the mileage..."
