Rbrindle Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 Hi. I purchased BS at the weekend, have been getting used to it over the last few days , seems like an amazing simulation. Im an old F22-TAW player, I used to spend hours on that - I spend more time on these sims viewing cameras than I do flying, the level of detail in BS is astounding! , I have been lurking these forums to get some info - have picked up a lot of good info so far + some really nice missions  I have moved to 'realism mode' as I like a challenge , although I am starting off with the Auto startup procedure whilst I learn all the inflight stuff. I have a problem though - when I try the mission 'shooting range' , I do the auto startup (LWIN+Home) , then heli starts up but I cannot seem to take off, is there a brake of some sort I need to release , I cant see anything in the doc's about this. In other missions from a cold start I am able to take off fine. Also , I am starting to learn how to use the weapons system, when I want to enage a target will I have to confirm it is hostile before engaging , or just fire away?
JG14_Smil Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 Hello, there is no IFF in the sim, so knowing friendlies can be pretty tough. Not sure about the training mission, but W will shut off the park brake. Hit RCTL and ENTER to see the joystick indicator - it will show the brake if on or off.
rapid Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 you need to wait a while before take off as system is not fully ready for flight. are you using any joysticks ? Rbrindle Posted February 12, 2009 Author Posted February 12, 2009 Im using a saitek cyborg joystick. I will try waiting a bit longer , but I gave it 10 mins before - it certainly feels like it wants to take off.
rapid Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 (edited) I know what it is now..........10mins is wayyyyyyyyyy to long. have you set up your axis points? go /options/ axis should be red in the drop down list. I think your joystick is not set up in real mode. Can you control the Helo in instant action in real mode? This will tell you what you have set up from what you have not set up. Rbrindle Posted February 12, 2009 Author Posted February 12, 2009 havent tried it with instant action, only missions. will take a look at options and give it a go this afternoon. Thanks for the tip.
Ulrich Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 Check your joystick axis assign for collective at options screen with "Ka-50 real" mode selected.
Rbrindle Posted February 12, 2009 Author Posted February 12, 2009 thanks , this is fixed , under that collective setting it said 'joystick slider' , I changed it to 'joytick slider : Z axis'.
ruprecht Posted February 13, 2009 Posted February 13, 2009 Startup time is 2:30 from Lwin-Home to Shkval on and switch action stopped. Give it another 30 seconds setting your countermeasures, cycling AP switches and setting lights, and you should be gold. Tehrawk Posted February 13, 2009 Posted February 13, 2009 The training missions are very well made. I looked at the "start up procedure" one a few times. Once I had a good idea I started it again, but I pressed "Esc" and then selected "control". The nice thing is that the instructor will still continue to talk. It made learning the procedure a whole lot easier, having him remind me of what comes next.
