SickSidewinder9 Posted May 22, 2023 Posted May 22, 2023 Shouldn't there be a ram air turbine somewhere for when we lose all power? Is that a custom thing for countries that didn't want to deal with hydrazine? I thought the hydrazine just restarted the engine, and the RAT is for when that wasn't an option/didn't work. Right now, without engine, we have nothing. If I'm off, tell me where and wrong and lock the topic and let it die.
llOPPOTATOll Posted May 22, 2023 Posted May 22, 2023 Hydrazine and ram air powers the EPU, which supplies power. The JFS is used to restart the engine. 1

Unfortunately it's not implemented properly in the DCS F-16C so you will lose most important systems if your engine dies, making the EPU practially pointless. This has been reported years ago but there is still no fix in sight. 1 -Col. Russ Everts opinion on surface-to-air missiles: "It makes you feel a little better if it's coming for one of your buddies. However, if it's coming for you, it doesn't make you feel too good, but it does rearrange your priorities." It was also and Egyptian F-16, so who knows. As I stated, maybe it's just for export customers who don't want to deal with hydrazine. Edited May 29, 2023 by SickSidewinder9
