RTX4070 vs RTX 3080TI

I am in the market to upgrade from my RTX3060Ti. I want to run VR with no reprojection, with high texture if possible. Budget allows me a used RTX3080Ti or a new RTX4070. Anyone have the RTX3080Ti? How does it run your DCS. I have a Quest 2 headset.

I have a 3080Ti. I can't run VR with no reprojection (or ASW or SSW), not even on 72Hz.
In certain scenario's (low object and simpler maps) i can keep the FPS rate up just above 72Hz which is enough to run with no reprojection but it often dips below 72Hz causing stutters. Complex scenario's and more detailed maps a just a no go without reprojection. And then that's on low settings, not high ones.

Since i changed from a display port connected Rift-S to a stand alone Pico 4 i see much much more artifacts and anomalies under certain conditions, looking at 45 to 90° angle and rolling the airplane results in minor or major ghosting on medium to far distance objects. The closer to the ground the bigger effect is. For me it's a deal breaker. This is with reprojection on. It doesn't happen with repro off and if the FPS stays above the refresh rate but that's hardly reachable.

I have a 3080 12GB and Quest2 (details in my signature) and I'm happy with performance. Either on 72 or 80hz. In difficult maps, like Normandy 2 over Paris or London or South Atlantic over towns, ASW kicks in without many artifacts. In MP scenarios depends on how heavy the server is, situation is a bit different but in any case I'm always able to keep FPS above the minimum of half requested rate (36fps for 72hz or 40fps for 80Hz)

Thanks for the input. Sounds like DCS will eat just about any GPU for breakfast. Leaning more on the 4070 with 12GB of VRAM and using less power.

Good afternoon. I see in your signature that you switched to 4070. How are your impressions?

It is a noticeable performance improvement. I use DLSS4 and so I can run without ASW at 72 Hz. Not too bad at all. I am aiming to get a 5080 sometime this year I think, but my CPu is old and that may be the next step.
