SabreDancer Posted May 24, 2023 Posted May 24, 2023 (edited) Currently, the AH-64 can carry the M274 Target Practice Smoke round, either by itself or in conjunction with HE rockets. This round currently emits a small puff of smoke and then quickly disperses in a couple seconds. While it can be useful in training, the mixed HE-smoke loadout suggests it is carried on the battlefield as well, which the M274 is unsuitable for. If it is meant for marking targets with smoke, the much more suitable option is the M156 WP round carried by the A-10, F-16, etc. which burns for a minute or so per rocket. If this warhead choice is intentional, then there is no issue, but seeing as I couldn't find it mentioned before, I figured it ought to be brought up. Edited May 24, 2023 by SabreDancer
Solution NeedzWD40 Posted May 24, 2023 Solution Posted May 24, 2023 My guess is that we won't be seeing any new rocket types until a suitable solution for handling rocket zones is implemented. According to the mini-updates, the M274 is intended for now, with additional warheads later. 1
