Hello,

First off I would like to say I have a seperate installation on the same machine with windows vista x64 and have no problems at all. Windows 7 on the other hand has been problem after problem. All my drivers are current. Ive installed as administrator. Both DCS and Launcher are run as administrator. UAC is turned off. At first I had a lot of problems as others have with the launcher failing to initialize. This seems to be an on and off problem but when it does run, the main launcher screens are extremely buggy and very slow. I get video corruption when the mouse is moved. Going from one screen to another takes a long time and changing any settings like keyboard commands takes multiple mouse clicks and waiting for the setting to change several seconds. If I try changing video settings the game usually crashes. Starting a mission will 50% of the time result in the game erroring out while the other 50% the sim starts as normal. Ive tried multiple installs, multiple video drivers and even fresh OS installs. Ive tried everything Ive seen in the forums but havent found a fix. Maybe a windows 7 beta thing but some people seem to run on it no problem.

well it is a Beta still. Bugs are to be expected. I am running Vista64 at the moment and will without doubt move on to Windows 7 when it is released. Thats why I don't try the beta OS thing. ...the devil I know is better than the devil I don't.

Micorsoft web site says to install Win 7 on its own PC, not to share OS on one PC. and yes it is a beta so your out of help their. not even Micorsoft is giving help on it.

I can't read that DCS: Black Shark was designed for Windows 7.

There was even a warning for some campaigns to run it on Vista.

I believe that all hardware drivers are not even optimzed finally for Windows 7.

I don't know what you expected out of this experiment but for me it's no wonder it failed :(

I've been happily running BlackShark on W7 for the past couple of months, with very few problems to speak of, and better framerates than I was getting in either XP or Vista. One thing that I would recommend is to install the game to a directory outside of Program Files, rather something like "C:\games\ka50"; Vista and W7 handle the Program Files directory in a different way from the rest of the disk. Also, I believe you're only supposed to be able to have one instance of BS registered at a time; running a copy on an Vista partition as well as a W7 partition implies that you have two instances activated simultaneously, which could cause problems with starforce.

I have also been running Win7 / XP multiboot without many problems. Some of the symptoms you describe are similar to what I had before updating my video drivers on the Win7 OS (I had to reformat my HDD twice when trying to get the video drivers to run properly though).

Installation in a non default directory is probably the only thing I havent tried. Ill give it a shot. As far as my OS I have 2 seperate HD with 1 OS on each so Im not really sharing partitions and I havent had any other problems booting into windows 7. I have however used up all except 2 of my activations between so many reinstalls and yes 2 activations are because of 2 OS installs. Oh well. live and learn huh. Hope I dont have to rebuy the game. The problem tho really feels like a graphics driver problem.
