rapid Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 (edited) Can anyone tell me why when I am in a stable hover mode if I turn the helo while using my rudders, why does the helo return back to where I turned it from? I have turned off turn to target, I even turn off way point heading but I still turn back to where I way originally facing! einar-st Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 You probably have heading hold turned on. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=36246
AlphaOneSix Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 When you get to your new heading, press the trimmer button and it will stay at the new heading.

JDski Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 I think you might want to fly with Flight Director on rather then turn off heading hold until you get some time in and understand how the auto pilot sysyem works. Normally you should leave heading, pitch and bank hold channels on all the time whether you have flight director on or not. Alt hold can be turned on and off as needed. Flight director over rides the hold channels and makes them act as dampers instead. You'll find it to be more controllable with fight director on and also easier to control as opposed to turning off any of the hold channels.
-Nighthawk- Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 Yep autopilot will do that, when I'm mucking around trying new tricks etc. autopilot is the first thing I need to turn off ;)
LoyalNine Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 After hours on this sim now I finally have a feel for keeping things straight. But occasionally when the button pressing gets intense I will look down and all my AP buttons are switched off and I am riding a rowdy horse. That part is still and enigma to me.. WHY this happens I cannot figure out!!?? RichardG Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 No one knows. I asked awhile back, and they ask you to send em a track. That means they don't know either.

rapid Posted February 16, 2009 Author Posted February 16, 2009 Well i gave it a try today and same deal. I had control enter deployed to see if my rudder was not straight of something. I cant figure this out if i am in a stable hover if i press any rudder the helo turns right back from where it was facing very odd, i cant line up any targets (to tell you the truth i have not shot a single target to date). tried all the above but no avail. spyda Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 I'm no pro but are you just applying the rudder then releasing it once heading has corrected? u need to hold the rudder for a little longer till the chopper stabilizes to that heading. if using the key board rudder just slightly trim it in place for a few seconds till it maintains your new heading. AlphaOneSix Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 No one knows. I asked awhile back, and they ask you to send em a track. That means they don't know either. There are just so many different things that could be going wrong. It's easiest to just look at a track and see what the problem is rather than go through the hundred little things that could be wrong.
