Wing vapor effects

Recommended Posts

Currently the 'effect' belongs to ED and is optimised for fixed wing aircraft - i.e. the effects position seems to be locked to a particular reference frame. This works fine for your A-10s, F/A-18s, F-16s, et al but with the Tomcats variable sweep wing it could result in effect appearing to float in mid-air unconnected to the airframe depending on the wing sweep position.

So, you have the effect connected beautifully when the wings fully extended but as soon as the CADC starts to apply any sweep angle beyond this, the effect still appears in the fully extended position, gradually disconnecting the wing from the effect, until at full wing sweep its basically floating in mid-air alongside the airframe.

Heatblur have said - about a month ago IIRC - that they are in conversation with ED regards this limitation but that is the last we heard. Bear in mind ED have a lot on their plate bedding in MT and it seems that, until recently, a lot of module development and nice to have features have been put on the back burner. It may be that we see some movement on this now, but cosmetic enhancements or features do historically tend to get deprioritised over features which bring more operational or functional depth.
