Scandfox Posted June 13, 2023 Posted June 13, 2023 Any plans to change Manual Fuel Regulator to correct position which is AUTO. In Emergency Checklist You set it in MAN for engine relight. Hope to see this update in next Changelog...
Zabuzard Posted June 13, 2023 Posted June 13, 2023 (Note that the Manual Fuel Regulator switch is currently not simulated. Its position has no influence.)
Zabuzard Posted June 13, 2023 Posted June 13, 2023 (edited) Tracked and fixed internally as AJS37-374. Will be in an upcoming patch. (We changed the default position of the switch - the switch is still just cosmetic) Edited June 13, 2023 by Zabuzard 1 1
TOViper Posted June 13, 2023 Posted June 13, 2023 (edited) Hey Zabuzard! What about disabling the movement of the switch, like some other switches on the same panel (and thereby change it to AUTO position btw!!) This should avoid unneccesary postings and questions about the functioning when people are able to move it ... I would also make an entry in the RC2.1 for not having it functional ... TOViper Posted June 13, 2023 Posted June 13, 2023 May I ask what caused the flame-out? renhanxue Posted June 13, 2023 Posted June 13, 2023 I think it used to be functional in some regard? Weren't some of the overspeeding issues related to setting it to MAN?
Zabuzard Posted June 13, 2023 Posted June 13, 2023 I think it used to be functional in some regard? Weren't some of the overspeeding issues related to setting it to MAN?There is sth subtle and somewhat obscure in the code. Ill crosscheck it tomorrow with what the switch is supposed to do and maybe adjust or remove that part then. What was that overspeeding thing about, can't remember?
Zabuzard Posted June 14, 2023 Posted June 14, 2023 (edited) Yeah, so I had a second look and the current code has a small feature that is triggered by the switch in MAN: If the RPM is really low and the switch is in MAN, it will give the RPM a small boost to prevent engine shutdown. Other than that, the switch has no effect. However, this is not really what the switch is supposed to do (MAN is supposed to bypass the fuel flow computer that sits between throttle command and the actual fuel flow output, giving a direct linkage between throttle and fuel flow). This boost-feature should be available in AUTO as well. So what I pushed now is: * switch to AUTO by default * that boost-feature available regardless of switch position Should be in an upcoming patch Edited June 14, 2023 by Zabuzard

Very nice story ... makes me think of creating a training mission ... :) 1 Visit https://www.viggen.training ...Viggen... what more can you ask for? my computer: AMD Ryzen 5600G 4.4 GHz | NVIDIA RTX 3080 10GB | 32 GB 3.2 GHz DDR4 DUAL | SSD 980 256 GB SYS + SSD 2TB DCS | TM Warthog Stick + Throttle + TRP | Rift CV1

If it was ever a thing it's surely long been fixed. Most of the overspeeding problem came from very incorrect weapons drag I think, even negative drag on some munitions even after they had been expended, but there was grumbling about fuel regulator being set to MAN at the time too. May have been placebo or hearsay in the first place. This was years ago at any rate. Edited June 15, 2023 by renhanxue 2
