JetCat Posted June 18, 2023 Posted June 18, 2023 Hi pilots, while all parts of the cockpit illumination in the Tomcat can be fully dimmed to almost zero, the engine readout gauge stands out always at full illumination and does not dim when turning all the light dimmers down. Is this the way it works in the real F-14 too? Is there some hidden switch or key combination to dim this one annoying super bright cockpit element at night?
Temetre Posted June 18, 2023 Posted June 18, 2023 Apparently that it doesnt dim with the switches, that is a real issue. But I think the gauges should have a red color night mode? 1
r4y30n Posted June 19, 2023 Posted June 19, 2023 Technically it is red, colors just tend to fade to white when the brightness to exposure ratio is too high. I’m guessing the current lighting values for the EIG are exactly the same as daytime since IRL that is the case. Maybe it would make more sense to bring the actual brightness value down to show the color more accurately but add bloom or something to convey the real life annoying brightness.
