I see someone else did this one faster than I could....either way.  I'm making progress.  I'll put custom weathering to make this as close to the photos I can find.

The decals look like they are Vinyl IRL.  So I'm going to add Normals to them.  and custom weathering.  The special unit markings are actually taken from the real aircraft using high res photos a friend sent me.  So that a part of the real aircraft will be a part of this one.

I'm just going off of what I see in the photos...This is one of the photos I'm using.  As you can see it's very bright and fresh.  All the special markings are.  I have not yet done any Roughmet work, and I've not applied any custom weathering either.  It's WIP.

Yes sure Megalax. it was just a tip. the logos on the plane are of course just stickers. Of course, colors and logos always stay fresh and are nicely cleaned. Sun, weather and wear and tear from air resistance certainly have no effect on the colours. the colors seemed too bright to me. Well, you're the absolute expert, so you couldn't help but comment. Mach3DS will surely have worked under your guidance.

He doesn't need anyone's guidance lol.

I have 400GB in skins in my Saved Games. 100GB of that is probably made by myself.

In the first photo from the last Mach3DS post, the sun is shining directly on the right side, which makes the colors in the light brighter. In the second photo, the sun shines from behind on the right side. the empennage is in shadow and the colors become stronger. Photos are always deceptions. There are enough people who talk cleverly and Mister Megalax can only do this with templates that also have an AO. But I'm not questioning his skills and experience. I would like to emphasize again that I gave Mach3DS a hint or a recommendation.

Mach is among those providing skins for the Tomcat of the highest quality, and actively works on/supports more than one 3rd party behind the scenes. You also disregarded that he stated the roughmet and normal map work usually comes after all of the diffuse is laid down. His normal and roughmet work on the F-86, B-17, F-16, and F-14 are absolutely in league with Mega's own, and I'm sure Mega himself would say the same. He's been at this for a long, long time.

Please, go and review his VF-31 1991 and VF-301 skins that are currently included with the F-14 (including the faux early gun vents done by hand) and let me know if he needs further tips or recommendations. Or the Top Gun helmets he did for my Top Gun skin that's also included with the F-14, which he did the roughmets and normals for by hand to show the tape and decoration.

I'm almost finished with this one. adjusted the Engine nozzle Roughmets, Exterior, and I've added Flight Suit Patches with Normals for Pilot and WSO.  I've also added the option to fly without the WSO if for some reason you ever want to...  Also, I've discovered that the exterior Paint is in fact NOT vinyl decals, but actually paint.  So no normals for the exterior needed.

Cheers, this is the Nevada Cold Start instant action mission and then swap to your livery, not sure if it makes a difference?  I know the tail number is picking up the previous livery bort but not sure why it's misaligned?

hacked the custom args section to force "189" but it's still misaligned and showing a leading 8 instead of a 7?

name = "USAF 4th FW 75th Anniversary AF87-189" --0189
--countries = {"USA"}

custom_args =
{

[32]   = 0.9, -- 1
[31]   = 0.8, -- 10
[442]  = 0.1, -- 100
[472]  = 0.0, --No WSO 0.5/SHOW WSO 0.0
[1000] = 0.0, -- change of type of board number (0.0 - No Numbers, 0.1 - 3 Numbers, 0.2 - 4 Numbers starts with "1", 0.3 - Full 4 Numbers)
[1001] = 0.0, -- vis refuel board number (0.0 - No Numbers, 0.1 Numbers, 0.2 - Numbers Early)
[1002] = 0.0, -- change of type intake board number
[1003] = 0.02, -- vis Nose Gear board number (0.0 - 4 Numbers 0.0 to 0.05 adjusts the placement, 0.1 - 5 Numbers)
}

It might be misaligned.  I shouldn't have any BORTs enabled at all.   Which means that NLG number was a miss on my part.  I hate that.  Didn't notice that at all.  Yeah the Bort must be jacked up. It should not have any borts enabled.

Ahh OK no worries so does that mean it would need a custom texture adding for the nose gear bay?  Trying to get my head around how these cust arg borts work....From what I can see the real jet has a refuel bort and nose gear number?  Guess you suppress the fin bort though in favour of your custom tail textures?

Pretty much spot on though, cheers👍

There are 3 types and 4 types of nose number decals
  Among 3 digit and 4 digit, there is a decal texture in which the first number does not match. Number position is different in decal texture

 Even the official livery has skins with incorrect nose numbers.

Ahh right, bug then?

Looks like that is a bug.  It should have been disabled.  I've updated my Livery description.lua to remove the BORT number entry.  It shouldn't have been active to begin with.  The User Files DL has been updated.  Any new DL will get the fix.  If you just want the file stand alone.  It's attached here.  It also fixes the Name Entry from Test Livery to the name of the File Folder.

I'm not.   It's the forum.  It's not keeping the photos that are linked to Discord for some reason?  I'm not sure why.  I noticed the same thing in the F-16C thread.  It's not showing my pics that I post.  I don't know why.  I didn't delete them though....strange.  The livery is on User Files as seen in the pic.  Forum is being weird.
