Went in a quick free flight mission (both BS2/3);  Do you have the strange issue that when manouvering the HUD airspeed indicator becomes useless?

Love this video btw:

The Speed indicator on the HUD has pitch and bank limitations. Refer to the analog speed gauge during flights outside of these limits.

@razo+r Thanks for your reply. So you have the same issue. But I don't see the behaviour I have in DCS in the posted video.

It wouldn't be considered safe to feed any pilot with 'false/wrong' information on the HUD don't you think?

I wouldn't call it unsafe. The system that supplies the HUD with ground speed information has its limits when it comes to pitch and bank. If you stay within normal flight ops, you shouldnt really cross those limits.

And if all that still fails, you have an analog system that provides you with your airspeed in any attitude that you can refer to.

As for why the behaviour is not the same in the video, I cannot tell you that. Perhaps it has a different avionics software or something.

Old video, his blackshark not yet received the dcs update 😉

edit:

Even a small banking angle is not updating the HUD airspeed in relation to the ground and remain as a frozen false reading as long as you level.

Illogic in regards to HUD information or in terms of safety to me. Why only one system to gather data for that part of the HUD ?

Is it not a secondary source/calculation of speed that takes over the primary system of calculation for the speed updates, slower or less accurate ?

I prefer the issue would be fixed/reversed to the situation it was before especially for BS2 ( 10+years of blackshark and wasn't suppose to get updated after BS3)

It also makes more sense with those videos out there.

There are two different speeds shown on the HUD, so there are two systems providing you with speed information.

Again, it works as intended. They won't change it back.

And the video you linked even shows a similar behaviour. Once he is outside the systems limit in either pitch or bank attitude, the GS on the HUD is reading a false value.

If you watch closely, you can see that sometimes the GS isn't updated even when he flies level. So the system should be even more unreliable than what it currently is in DCS.
