Tried nose down to altitude needed then nose up watch ground till I slow down then level out finally lower collective a little.  Is this the proper way?

Is it advisable in a helo to lower either power and or collective a little bit and turn tight circles to loose altitude, like in an airplane does?  This way you can stay in the same relative area vs straight line at 120 speed.  I know usually you would about raise nose and hold as you loose speed but you also gain tons of altitude the very thing you are wanting to loose.  Please advise

Leave power as it is. 

Use the collective. Its not one fixed position for it, you can continuously adjust it. If you nose up to slow down, lower collective as required to keep your altitude. In descent, adjust the collective as needed to reach your desired descent rate.
