Raisuli Posted July 30, 2023 Posted July 30, 2023 Maybe Tel Nof. Maybe just DCS AI. Have a couple formation training missions where I chase an air start triggered F-14 around for hour-long tours of the Sinai map (and that other Desert map that syria not be named). At the end the F-14 lands at Tel Nof. First, there's almost no place for an F-14 to park at Tel Nof. I originally used a sheltered spot, but it tried to park with the wings extended. That didn't end well. Then I used spot 1, which worked great, then I told it automatic, and the bloody Tomcat decided to taxi parallel to the runway in the rocks and ran into a tree rather than take the taxiway. Tomcat pilots. You can't take them anywhere! Probably admiring her mustache in the mirrors rather than pay attention to where she's going. 1

If that's a medium you just about have this dialed in; I'd rank it in the 'you've got to be kidding me' category (of course that might be called 'medium' there...) Just flew the same mission, this time the F-14 parked normally. Somewhere. Did find some other issues that I'll check to see if they've been reported before reporting.
western_JPN Posted July 31, 2023 Posted July 31, 2023 Hi, Raisuli and OnReTech. About Tel Nof and F-14 taxing, I think OnReTech has not to do anything. 1 - when those shelters and sun shades are correctly modeled and placed , no need to retouch. F-14 will face the same situation IRL. 2 - The trouble that F-14 wings collide with sun shades will be solved in wings swept-back. When HB will add AI F-14 makes wings swept-back in taxing time after landing , F-14 can enter sun shades without wings colliding. 3 - Users set each parking spot numbers instead of Auto. 4 - Even current Sinai map module / Tel Nof AB + F-14 AI, sun shades can be removed by ME trigger function. My screenshots and sample mission are attached. f14b_telnof_land_STSremoved_sinai_20230731.miz 1 Modules: A-10C/II, F-4E, F-5E(Re), F-14A/B, F-15E, F-16C, F/A-18C, AV-8B, FC3, Ka-50-2/3, UH-1H, Mi-8MTV2, SA342, Mi-24P, AH-64D, CH-47F, P-51D, F4U-1D Maps: Nevada, PG, Syria, SA, Sinai, Kola, Afghanistan, Iraq, CW Germany, Channel, Normandy2.0 Assets etc.: CA, Sc, WW2AP Mods and Skins in User Files: files/filter/user-is-western0221/

Of course...Tomcat pilots. Gotta wax that mustache before you park, and that can get distracting. Demoing the shelters is pure brilliance; I didn't think about that. Thanks! I did find out the F-18 will fit in the hardened shelters, but it's a bit unnerving with those double tails. I'd hate to do that without a director (or F2 view). Pushback would be an awesome addition. Some day if I have time on my hands I might work on a way to do that with .lua. I did set up a static/real transition lua a long time ago that worked well, so in theory I should be able to either push back or magically transport at the worst. All of this why 'medium' made me chuckle. OnReTech is pretty amazing with customer communications if nothing else, and the map rocks. Needs Karnak castle. And Herod's little palace over by the dead sea. And a few other things they may well be working on. Then again this isn't a tourist map, it's for flying!
