Avio Posted September 13, 2023 Posted September 13, 2023 Not sure if this is an issue, but I noticed when flying low with Nav FLIR on, at times the ground would illuminates just fine, but after a while, ground further away would start to turn pitch black like the FLIR no longer could paint the ground ahead, followed by complete black HUD, even when flying very low. And when diving towards ground from high altitude, when reaching low level, the ground took a while to show up its IR image. Is there a lag time in IRL? 1

Avio Posted September 14, 2023 Author Posted September 14, 2023 I was flying NTTR over and around Tonopah Test range, quite some distance from edge of map, especially at low altitude.
draconus Posted September 14, 2023 Posted September 14, 2023 If you can try again and reproduce the behavior, please save the short track from the flight. Win10 i7-10700KF 32GB RTX4070S Quest 3 T16000M VPC CDT-VMAX TFRP FC3 F-14A/B F-15E CA SC NTTR PG Syria
Swift. Posted September 14, 2023 Posted September 14, 2023 I think this might be related to the ALG thing that's going on. When you point at the ground it appears very dark and when you point upwards the ground appears very bright. 476th Discord | 476th Website | Swift Youtube Ryzen 5800x, RTX 4070ti, 64GB, Quest 2

Avio Posted September 15, 2023 Author Posted September 15, 2023 Observed before that when flying very low, initially the ground IR image appears fine, but as the plane accelerate to higher speed, the IR image starts gradually turning black starting from top of screen to middle to bottom, and then total black. And when diving then levelling at low level, the ground IR image only starts appearing gradually. Is it a case of the IR image needing time to build up, or the speed is too fast for the image to form up in time?
draconus Posted September 15, 2023 Posted September 15, 2023 We can keep guessing... or you can upload a track and we'll make sure what happens. Win10 i7-10700KF 32GB RTX4070S Quest 3 T16000M VPC CDT-VMAX TFRP FC3 F-14A/B F-15E CA SC NTTR PG Syria

Put the F-15E Suite4+ on the map, change difficulty to player, give it Nav LANTIRN pod in the loadout, change the time to the night hours and fly for a minute showing the navflir "bugs", then save the track and upload there. I was able to see Nav-FLIR HUD image flying 90 degrees into the ground daytime. Win10 i7-10700KF 32GB RTX4070S Quest 3 T16000M VPC CDT-VMAX TFRP FC3 F-14A/B F-15E CA SC NTTR PG Syria
Avio Posted September 18, 2023 Author Posted September 18, 2023 So I have tested again at Tonopah Test Range, this time starting mission at runway and took off. Strangle, now all is good. Perhaps previously I set it to start from ramp cold and dark, flew the complete mission, and noticed those issues stated earlier. Will see if issue still there should I fly another night mission from ramp start.
