sohei Posted March 8, 2009 Posted March 8, 2009 Hi all, How are you guys getting around the fact that the joystick obscures the Targetting Display Control Panel, and the Landing Lights and Voice Warning ['Betty] Control Panel? I can't see what I've selected on some of the switches! A small pie is soon eaten
hyperfighter Posted March 8, 2009 Posted March 8, 2009 i used t-ir i could look at it from an angle so it became visible.
sohei Posted March 8, 2009 Author Posted March 8, 2009 I don't have Track IR though. Is it possible to remove the joystick, or have a close-up view of the panels? A small pie is soon eaten
Frakin Toasters Posted March 8, 2009 Posted March 8, 2009 lol, love the sig, Sohei. I had the exact same problem, it's annoying. You should look into building your own head-tracking system, it's loads cheaper than TrackIR, there is free software for it. Here's the forum for Freetrack http://forum.free-track.net/index.php?showtopicgroup=11 There isn't really a way without it :<
sohei Posted March 8, 2009 Author Posted March 8, 2009 Oh wow, that is impressive. Time to get making stuff, I suppose. How much did it cost you to put together? Credit to Alan Davies for the sig ;) A small pie is soon eaten

sohei Posted March 8, 2009 Author Posted March 8, 2009 Aha! That was most helpful. Thankyou! It really is amazing; not only do I have the best flight sim ever, it also happens that the development team are a superb bunch of guys too! You guys have earned my loyalty as a customer. Frakin Toasters Posted March 8, 2009 Posted March 8, 2009 Well my mum already had the visor i used, the webcam was about 12 quid i think, and the high-visibility tape was about four quid, but you could probably get it cheaper if you looked around. I'm Vanguard on that forum by the way, here is my thread detailing my experiences in going from not knowing a thing about Freetrack, to being quite proficient in it and the construction of my headset http://forum.free-track.net/index.php?showtopic=1613

skypirate Posted March 9, 2009 Posted March 9, 2009 What I did before purchasing one of these lovely Tir4s was I assigned head movement left/right to the joystick POV switch + modifier Alt... I worked fine for me to move the field of view (you don't do that often anyway) and click the blind spot [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]Regards!
sohei Posted March 9, 2009 Author Posted March 9, 2009 Ahh, I'm finding Spyda's use of the clickable mouse wheel to be the most effective yet. Many thanks one and all. A small pie is soon eaten
