Cloudberry
Hi all, As a combat sim "noob" I am seriously enjoying this sim and its "study" aspects. However not being a long-time simmer I find it is some times hard to understand what is going on, e.g. why am I always getting shot down on a certain mission, and searching the forums doesn't always give the answer. So I thought I'd try to make a small contribution and set up a skeleton structure on a free wiki service for a what might develop into a wiki site targeted specifically at learning this sim and becoming a master Ka-50 "virtual pilot". Or which might inspire someone to set up something similar. Key thing is the community should have a Wiki somewhere :) The site is at http://blackshark.wikidot.com/ /Cloud

blaster454
wiki.eagle.ru is already in progress. I can appreciate that, but ED's wiki is in Russian and that doesn't do other language readers much good. Is there a plan to provide other translations of the ED wiki page? Note: I tried to register but the part that asks if you are human, well, I tried several times and it kept saying I made a mistake! Hi soup55, not sure what is the problem; I just tried setting up a new user ("create account" upper right corner) and then join the site (via "Join this Site" on the main wiki page). The Captcha was quite ok to read here (4 letters). Maybe just try again? The site allows anonymous edits, so you do not necessarily have to 'join' it to use it or contribute. The wiki markup is pretty straightforward. Anyways no sign-ups or contributions so far on the site, so doesn't seem likely it will become much of a success. Thought it was a nice try though ;) / Cloud
SSneg
I really think that ED community managers should create two separate (yet interlinked) wikis on wiki.eagle.ru, just like the big Wikipedia has separate yet interlinked languages. If you live to fly again, it's a successful landing. The plane being able to fly again is just a bonus.

Distiler
Not wanting to sound harsh, but web page development seems rather unimportant to ED, just take a look at digitalcombatsimulator.com. If I really wasn't into simulation and knowing what I was doing, I woudln't buy any product from that website, and it's a shame considering the quality of that product. SSneg
Not wanting to sound harsh, but web page development seems rather unimportant to ED, just take a look at digitalcombatsimulator.com. If I really wasn't into simulation and knowing what I was doing, I woudln't buy any product from that website, and it's a shame considering the quality of that product. Yeah, but.. True simmers don't fall for fancy websites, thrilling trailers and loud promotion campaigns, they look 'under the hood' so to say. Casual players might fall for the fancy stuff yet they would not buy such a complex sim (because all BS marketing comes down to 'look we've modelled highly complex flight dynamics and a gazillion of switch buttons'). So I think ED is doing fine with what they have for website. Or maybe not and I am really underestimating the power of expensive aggresive promotion. Anyways, putting up a second language instance to an already functioning wiki (especially on a "this is a fan sandbox and we are not responsible for this after we launch it" basis) should not take more than a few working hours... Maybe we should just start with what's already on wikidot.com and should ED come around to launching their own version, we'll just manually copy-paste the articles. I hope that this will not signal "no need for en.wiki.eagle.ru" to ED though! By the way, you may check out the Russian version. I know it's all Chin.. erm, Russian to you, yet the pictures are pretty :) http://wiki.eagle.ru/wiki/АБРИС http://wiki.eagle.ru/wiki/ШКВАЛ http://wiki.eagle.ru/wiki/ПТУР_Ка-50 http://wiki.eagle.ru/wiki/НППУ_Ка-50 http://wiki.eagle.ru/wiki/ВЦУ http://wiki.eagle.ru/wiki/Черная_Акула If you live to fly again, it's a successful landing.
