stoop Posted September 15, 2023 Posted September 15, 2023 Anyone ever have problems getting the TPOD into Laser Spot Search mode so you can see what the JTAC is painting? It's a long Sensor Select Left to get to LSS mode - presuming you have already done SS down x 2 to get to making the TPOD SOI. Problem is it doesn't always work. Maybe 1 in 3 times I see the satisfactory cursor dancing all round the MFD to try and find the laser (I'm testing on 1688 so that isn't the problem), but in those other 2 out of 3 cases I either get the short SS left behavior (switch between narrow and wide field of view) or just nothing happens at all. I don't seem to have this issue with other short v long behaviors on my SS mapped 4 way hat so I'm not inclined to think it is a hardware issue on my joystick. Is there some other prereq I am not noticing for LSS to work on the TPOD?
Antiguedad Posted September 15, 2023 Posted September 15, 2023 No, there is not any other prerrequisite. I think maybe it's a false contact in your stick that prevents a continous long press. I had the same problem, in my case with a X52, and I solved it by opening it and cleaning the left direction of the POV hat contacts with alcohol.
buur Posted September 16, 2023 Posted September 16, 2023 hm, had the same problem. Should I clean my joystick with alcohol or use the alcohol by myself?
stoop Posted September 17, 2023 Author Posted September 17, 2023 Yeah, don't think it is my stick - mapped it to other segments of the hat and same thing happens 1
zildac Posted September 17, 2023 Posted September 17, 2023 If you want to activate LSS you need to have designated a point first. Have you done that? 14900KS | Maximus Hero Z690 | ASUS 4090 TUF OC | 64GB DDR5 6600 | DCS on 2TB NVMe | WarBRD+Warthog Stick | CM3 | TM TPR's | Varjo Aero
stoop Posted September 17, 2023 Author Posted September 17, 2023 Yes, waypoint set on the map and hit the DESG button to fly to that point first, then double sss down before being in reasonable range and doing the sss left long.

OK but have you TDC depressed so that the TPOD says TPOD DES?Pick a point off the nose with the TPOD, TDC depress to TPOD DES then SS Left long 1 14900KS | Maximus Hero Z690 | ASUS 4090 TUF OC | 64GB DDR5 6600 | DCS on 2TB NVMe | WarBRD+Warthog Stick | CM3 | TM TPR's | Varjo Aero
stoop Posted September 17, 2023 Author Posted September 17, 2023 Hmm, can't be sure. I have Easy mode on for the TDC so thought whatever it is looking at is selected. Will give that a try.

Have a bash, just ensure it say TPOD DES in the bottom right corner of the TPOD and LSS "should" engage with SS Left Long. 1 14900KS | Maximus Hero Z690 | ASUS 4090 TUF OC | 64GB DDR5 6600 | DCS on 2TB NVMe | WarBRD+Warthog Stick | CM3 | TM TPR's | Varjo Aero

JackHammer89 Posted September 18, 2023 Posted September 18, 2023 I found this too, if you use a waypoint and desg to it LSS won't work until you've slewed a little off the waypoint and designated by TDC. Then if you LSS it should work. 2 1
