eLgargantuan Posted September 18, 2023 Posted September 18, 2023 I saw the thread on altitmeter settings but it seems when I'm in the VTA working with Uzi 1-1 on TGT4, a gun strafe is requested and when I go below 5000ft I get a mission failure because i busted the hard deck. Am I not understanding correctly that the harddeck should be 100 feet AGL not 5000 MSL? Thanks, I can't seem to get past this point after a few attempts now and have started to consider using a gbu12 when I try it again next time.
Sabre-TLA Posted September 22, 2023 Posted September 22, 2023 You could use a GBU-12 if desired as the mission is only testing for target elimination but we should understand why you got a Hard Deck violation to ensure something isn't broken. The Hard Deck changes after you hit WP Alpha. It is 100' over the range and 5000' when in the transit corridors. I checked the triggers and that is how they are setup. If you don't hit WP Alpha then the flags don't get set to change the hard deck to the lower value. Please post a trk or tacview so we can ensure the WP Alpha trigger is hit and see the exact altitude when the trigger reports the failure. You could try a DCS Repair to make sure everything is updated before trying again. Triggers are the same in the practice mission so we will test that as well. Let us know how it goes and thanks for reporting the issue. MapleFlagMissions - Read Our Blog for Updates
eLgargantuan Posted September 26, 2023 Author Posted September 26, 2023 Ah that could definitely be it. I was turning direct to Bravo after talking to the check in controller so I might have missed that trigger zone. I'll post back when I can try again soon! Thanks for the response!
eLgargantuan Posted September 27, 2023 Author Posted September 27, 2023 That did seem to do the trick for the altitude trigger. My misunderstanding was when I heard the recording say "Continue to Control Point Bravo" I was turning direct to bravo too early and skirted the edge of the trigger at alpha. So that's figured out... But now the next problem I'm having is when I complete all of the FAC taskings from Uzi and Hammer (by now I've taken down 6 different 9-lines), I get no further taskings available. Then I head towards Charlie for the exit and get the "You're now at end of VUL checkout with the controller" - I'm not sure how to do this since I've completed all tasking with the FACs? When I attempted to re-check in they said no further taskings. I fly to WP charlie at 6000ft, nothing happens, no F10 radio menu option to check out. Then proceed toward the Fence Out way point and get a "you exited the target range without authorization PO is terminated" message. Now what am I missing? I thought I read the documentation thoroughly but I think I've missed something that describes what is necessary from me on these procedures/finding the correct trigger zones to fly over. Is there a hidden timer that I need to complete things within a certain time? Some other trigger? Please help, this mission was fun and good practice but after 10 times I've practically memorized the 6 MGRS target coordinates at this point and am losing the patience to continue.. I want to do it right but I'm creeping up on a skip ping the mission, which I would much prefer avoiding if at all possible.
Sabre-TLA Posted September 27, 2023 Posted September 27, 2023 (edited) Good that you got past the first hurdle. Whenever you enter or exit the range you need to check in and check out with the range controller via the F10 menu. The fact that you didn't have an entry for exit could be a new bug. I'll check the triggers and let you know. Recon Stewart did a series of videos on these missions and they show a good walk through. The flight and procedures to and from the range are similar (some you need to do an AAR). You can view them here: Edited September 27, 2023 by Sabre-TLA MapleFlagMissions - Read Our Blog for Updates
eLgargantuan Posted September 27, 2023 Author Posted September 27, 2023 Quote Whenever you enter or exit the range you need to check in and check out with the range controller via the F10 menu Ah that's interesting. I'm not sure if its intended but the check in happened automatically for me when I passed over the FENCE-IN waypoint turning for Alpha so I assumed I just needed to fly directly over Charlie then to the Fence Out to get the same result on exit. I'll check the video out, thanks! Admittedly I do run VIACOM which has been a known source for some AI related issues in campaigns before.
Sabre-TLA Posted September 27, 2023 Posted September 27, 2023 Yes VIACOM can mess with some triggers. Have you been flying the practice mission campaign? The DLC includes a practice mission campaign which mimics each qualification mission but it starts in the air close to the range so you can get right into the action right away and perfect your tactics, techniques and procedures. I highly recommend you play the practice mission first to get the targets understood then use the qualification campaign to test your abilities with the full start, stop flight. eLgargantuan Posted September 30, 2023 Author Posted September 30, 2023 Well, I was able to pass it without VAICOM, so I suspect there is an issue with that affecting the trigger. Its a wonderful free tool, I'll point this issue in their direction to get it on their radar if not already. I'm not sure if its an A-10CII specific thing or not, but the triggers for the A10 campaigns seem to be affected. 1
