brofus12 Posted September 19, 2023 Posted September 19, 2023 Hey all, I bought this campaign about 6 months ago after building a PC almost exclusively for this. Flight sim/WWII. The campaign was the cherry on top. I played it religiously learning to fly the Mustang for about a month and then life got busy. Along the way one of my drives got corrupt so I had to reinstall and reformat everything. So i came back and wanting to fire up the campaign and play a few missions that really stood out to me I ran into some troubles with the F10 map. One thing i was never good with was the navigation and relied heavily on the ability to have the live info for location and mission plan in the F10 menu during the mission. I had that on my first play through and was the only "unrealistic" thing I used throughout the whole campaign. I came back and fired up mission 2 (didnt want to fly around the coast with the captain) and had no "live map." I didnt see an option for this to be turned off? In my other instant missions that are not this campaign this function very much so works. I am a noob, and may be missing something very obvious. In my settings my "F10 AWACs" is on.
Reflected Posted September 19, 2023 Posted September 19, 2023 (edited) The F10 icons have been disabled by the mission, so that it can be used for proper WW2 navigation - as it's the only detailed map available. If you want to locate yourself you can still use the kneeboard mark function, but I would recommend against it. I recall vividly the only way I was able to get on target was to use the F10 map on the original play through a few months ago. I used it heavily when crossing the channel and linking up with the bombers especially when I was on my 5th+ attempt in the mission and accelerated the game (ALT+z) to cross the channel and I only had a half hour to play the mission. I 1000% agree with the pilots of the time getting lost, but as a working dad I don’t have much time to be lost sometimes lol. Your campaign is awesome, just wish I was able to use that as I recall. Will have to spend some time now it seems.

I haven’t and could do with some training, that, or learn to tank in a Spit or a Mossie etc. Now wouldn’t that be some fun?
