GeneralVikus Posted September 20, 2023 Posted September 20, 2023 Hey guys, I'm running DCS on an Acer Nitro 5 laptop with a brand-new charger. The charger seems to be appropriate for the laptop, the listed name of the charger is: KFD 135W 19V 7.1A AC Adapter Charger for Acer ADP-135KB T Acer Nitro 5 Gaming Laptop I can run other fairly GPU and CPU - intensive games without any issues. Loading into a mission in DCS causes the laptop to stop charging, 100% of the time. I have checked and double checked to make sure that I'm not touching either the power cable or the laptop itself, and the issue occurs with or without the HOTAS plugged in. Opening up DCS is fine, but loading into a mission or into the mission editor always causes this issue. The problem can then only be resolved by closing DCS, unplugging the laptop, and then plugging it back in. I've never known this issue to happen with any other program. Does anyone know why this might be happening and how I could attempt to fix it?
draconus Posted September 25, 2023 Posted September 25, 2023 Seems like a common problem with gaming laptops. Some games just make the hardware work too hard, needing more power than the charger can provide. Some bios change helped this guy: https://linustechtips.com/topic/1438818-solved-acer-nitro-5-discharging-while-gaming/ You can also try to lower the DCS settings or set some software/hardware tresholds by other means (underclocking, bios settings, power profiles...)
