Slippa Posted September 25, 2023 Posted September 25, 2023 I’m not sure if this is a bug, an update change or something I just can’t work out, When I started using DCS I bound some views to my HOTAS. Cockpit view, fly-by view, F10 Map etc. While flying I could then quickly swap between sitting in the cockpit to checking the map. If I checked the map I used the mouse wheel to scroll the map zoom in or out as required. If I zoomed it in, then returned to the cockpit view to fly, when I checked back to the map it would still be where I left it. Zoomed in. More than two years on, I’ve never found a setting or anything to make it behave as it used to. I still have the same bindings for the same modules and use the same maps but I can’t find a way to make the map view work as it did. If I zoom the map view now and return to the cockpit, the map view will have reset, meaning I have to scroll it every time to adjust it again. Was this changed in an update at some point or have I hit something a while ago and just can’t find the setting again? Would like to use it how it used to be. cheers.
Ghostrider313 Posted September 25, 2023 Posted September 25, 2023 I have never been able to get the map to display with F10. Not sure what is going on or if there is no map available for the missions I fly as a new flyer.

The map itself is always available, while position of units and yourself can be hidden by the mission maker.Cheers! Every now and then I think I’ll have to sort it out as it’s costing me a few seconds while I scroll. If I’m struggling to spot the target and use the map it can be a death sentence to check it. I’ve both Stable and OB installed at the minute so will check if they both behave the same way. A while back I went searching for an app or a mod that might let me use an iPad to run the map. I didn’t find one and can’t really see it being possible without something installing DCS. I don’t know though? Of course, I should be studying dead reckoning and brushing up my non existent navigational skills but, well, there’s a map isn’t there. A dangerous one, but a map nonetheless. 1

Search for DCS moving map. It doesn't use the default map though, and maybe it's currently only for PC and Android. Sent from my MAR-LX1A using Tapatalk
Slippa Posted September 25, 2023 Author Posted September 25, 2023 I did see the moving map thing but you’re right, it’s windows or android. Nice idea though. I was sure it would’ve been user error. When it stopped working I was learning my way around, toggling everything that toggles. It’s a weird one alright. 1
Slippa Posted September 26, 2023 Author Posted September 26, 2023 Same behaviour with DCS stable as OB.
Slippa Posted March 4, 2024 Author Posted March 4, 2024 I still have this problem. I thought it might work as it used to after the last update and merging of stable and OB but no joy. Somewhere around here I thought it was mentioned again but I can’t find the thread now. I thought someone had replied saying they’d found a setting on the map. I asked which button or whatever it was I should look for but they didn’t reply. Maybe I imagined it, it was a while ago now. I still have to roll the mouse-wheel to get it where I want it but it always goes back to a default view or zoom level. I recently went messing about rearranging my C drive. I did a fresh install of our latest DCS and fixed a few things that weren’t as they should be but the map thing has me stumped. Any ideas on what I could try would be great. cheers.
