Turd Ferguson Posted September 26, 2023 Posted September 26, 2023 Hi, I ordered an Orion 2 and F15 grips with fingerlift 13 days ago. It arrived at my door In Cornwall UK 6 days later. Having bought lots from Virpil I was expecting a month at least so thanks to Winwing for their speedy delivery. The issue I have is setting the fingers lifts up as Casmo demos to get them to work in the F-15E. He mentions he had then set to false which didn't work so he set them to True. I don't know if that is in DCS or Simapppro though. Can't see anyway to do it in the settings of DCS or an option in Simapppro. Could someone who's managed to get this working tell me what this means and where to set the finger lift buttons to true please? Thanks Oh hell, let's go nuts. Swords for forty eight thousand
Phantom711 Posted September 26, 2023 Posted September 26, 2023 Hi... Who is Casmo and what did he demo? As for the fingerlifts: The fingerlifts themselves do not do anything electronically. They physically do 2 things: 1. prevent you from going from idle further back into cutoff without lifting them. 2. provide some resistance when going into afterburner. The Orion 2 base has 2 "hidden" buttons under the hood along each throttle axis. One at the idle position and one at the full aft position (engine cut off). In the DCS controls setup for the respective plane you wish to fly you have to bind those commands to those buttons. It`s something along the line of "left throttle idle", "left throttle cut off" (same for right throttle of course). You simply assign the command by double click into the, supposedly empty field and then move the throttle to that position. You should then see the button assigned. You can also use some dropdown or something, if you know the button number (check in SimAppPro first)...I`ve never used that option. don`t know if I even answered your actual question... P.S.: Maybe also check the Special Options Tab in DCS for the particular aircraft. 1 vCVW-17 is looking for Hornet and Tomcat pilots and RIOs. Join the vCVW-17 Discord.

Turd Ferguson Posted September 27, 2023 Author Posted September 27, 2023 Thank you for the replay @MustangSally. That doesn't sound quite what Casmo has done here. Unfortunately the video doesn't explain how to set True False on buttons. Oh hell, let's go nuts. Swords for forty eight thousand
Phantom711 Posted September 27, 2023 Posted September 27, 2023 (edited) Hi... My initial answer did not help obviously...I apologize. I thought things would translate straight from the Hotnet to the Eagle which is not the case apparently. The video is in fact really confusing. What I take from it: Assign FINGER LIFT LEFT to JOY BTN_2 and FINGER LIFT RIGHT to JOY BTN _1. (as at 0:57 in the video). These should be the "hidden" buttons at the full aft position. When you are in the cockpit with your throttles in the full aft position and you want to raise the fingerlist, just briefly move the throttle slightly forward and then back so that the button gets re-registered. ------------------------ The rest of the stuff he talks about is probably from manual lua-scripting the controls, but he basically explains how it didn`t work. DISCLAIMER: I do not own the F-15E module and the video is confusing...so I might still be wrong. Edited September 27, 2023 by Phantom711 vCVW-17 is looking for Hornet and Tomcat pilots and RIOs. Turd Ferguson Posted October 2, 2023 Author Posted October 2, 2023 Hi @Phantom711 thanks for your reply. I'm still not able to replicate what Casmo did in that video however have found a workable solution to it. I start with the Throttles in Idle then once I hit the JFS, lift the fingerlifts and bring the throttle fully aft. Once the readout gets to 26 push the throttle forward to spool the engine. Shutown is as in Casmo's video though. When I start with the throttles fully aft the engines fire up when I hit the JFS. It's not quite the same but it's working well. Oh hell, let's go nuts.
