kitten40 Posted October 18, 2023 Posted October 18, 2023 I'm curious. Lately, I've been looking into the various squadrons and I'm left wondering.. Are there any out there that are recruiting that DON'T have some sort of mandatory social media requirements? Just curious ... AlexCaboose Posted October 18, 2023 Posted October 18, 2023 What do you define as social media? Discord use? Joining a squadron is a social activity, so having some sort of social interaction comes with the territory. 476th vFG Website, 476th vFG Discord, 476th vFG Pipeline
kitten40 Posted October 18, 2023 Author Posted October 18, 2023 Discord for sure does seem to be among the most used method I've seen here, and I'm not against its use. I'm just old school I guess and prefer to visit an actual website to learn more about the possible squadron I might be interested in. (And I'm also from the Teamspeak era, for that matter ). It just seems easier to me that way, rather than joining discord for a squadron, only to realize it probably wouldn't be a good fit. Good example is your sig. I saw your website link and went to it immediately. Just interesting to see exactly how much things have changed over the years Ryzen 7 5800X3D, MSI B450 Tomahawk Max, 64GB DDR4, EVGA RTX 3080Ti FTW3, (Was Reverb G2 / Now Quest 3) Fixed Wing: F18, FW190A&D, M2000, MiG21, Mosquito, P47, P51, Spitfire, Yak52, A10CII, Viggen, BF109, C.EagleII, F14, F16, F4E, F5E, FC3/4 Rotor: KA50III, Mi24, Mi8, OH58, Gazelle, UH1H Huey, Apache, CH47 Maps/Misc :Supercarrier, Combined Arms, WWII Asset Pack, Afghanistan, Caucasus, South Atlantic, Iraq, Kola, Marianas, Nevada, Persian Gulf, Sinai, Syria, The Channel
Volator Posted October 18, 2023 Posted October 18, 2023 I hear you, but: Setting up websites takes quite some effort and time. I'd rather spend that time flying the sim. 1 1./JG71 "Richthofen" - Seven Eleven

Just interesting to see exactly how much things have changed over the years Unfortunatly, most of the groups don't have webpages due to the amount of work to create and maintain it. If you are trying to get into a group, you will need to use Discord and/or SRS for ingame comms. And if you join a discord and you dont like the group, just let them know it just isnt working out and leave the server. No one's going to give you grief about that. 1 PNY 4080 Super, AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D, Gigabyte X670e Aorus Pro X MB, 64GB DDR5-6000 Ram, Pimax Crystal Light Winwing Orion2 base with F-16EX grip, Winwing Orion2 Throttle with F-18 Grip, Winwing TopGun MIPs, Logitech pedals Currently member of Virtual Armed Forces. Just interesting to see exactly how much things have changed over the years Squadrons have various resources and despite the desire for a website, we don't have someone to setup it up. Finding the right squadron for you is key, but I would not limit to just TeamSpeak and website. I know many high quality squadrons that use Discord and have no website. I am with you thought, the transition to Discord took me a moment. Edited November 2, 2023 by CaliJoshua
