Found a little bug where, at least on my system, having SSS enabled while using DLSS cause massive shadow artifacts while rolling. Happens in all aircraft on every map I tried at lower altitudes. Much worse over cities. This was in f-16/instant action/freeflight/syria.
-Occurs when using SSS and DLSS
-Does NOT occur using SSS with DLSS off
-Does NOT Occur using DLSS with SSS off

Screenshots attached with settings.. I will attach a track, but oddly enough the issue doesn't show when I watch the track..not sure it will help

No Mods, Nvidia settings at default.

*Notice the dark random shadows around the scenery in the first two pictures.. and not there in the second two.

I think I am getting a similar issue myself. (Note the front landing gear is where it is most apparent)
I am running a Radeon 7900 xtx gpu.
No matter what variation of TAA/SSS and motion blur combination that I try, the "tearing/artifacts" are still there.

I also disabled any features from Radeon adrenaline software.

Update Post: 20 - Oct - 2023

I restarted my PC this morning and the issue appears to be gone. I'll investigate further.
I intend to turn settings on and off and see if the issue persists when set to off.

If issues persist after turning the graphics setting to off - I will restart DCS and see if the setting truly switches "off"

Testing Notes:
TAA appears to be the source of the issue.

  1. While in the mission, I open the system menu and enable TAA
  2. The tearing/artifacts return
  3. While still in the mission, I turn TAA off from the settings menu
  4. The tearing/artifacts persist
  5. I exit the mission and ensure TAA is set to off from the main system settings menu
  6. I restart the mission with no TAA, the tearing/artifacts are now gone

Same with a 4090.  Also take a look at your gun tracer rounds.  Mine look…weird in the F-18.

Edit:  it may be this?

So far, TAA seems to be the lone culprit for me on an AMD gpu. I wonder if it's best to start an AMD specific thread or if I should just leave this here?
