In BS, you have to trim in the direction you want to go.
If we try (for example) to turn to the left without trimming, the helicopter will then automatically return to the last trimmed position.
Worse, we "fight" against the machine if we don't trim, during our turn...
I've been flying the KA-50 for years and have totally gotten used to it. I use the flight director if I want free flight without trim.

But it was only recently that I discovered the following video:

In this video, we see the pilot performing a large number of maneuvers without ever having to trim his machine.
He doesn't seem to fight against it either.
And he's not in flight director mode either

So the question is : Is the Black Shark's trim realistic in the game?
After watching this video, I'm not sure anymore...

PS : we see him trimming at 2:45, 3:04 and he trim a lot in the end of video.
But he make a lot of maneuvers without trimming at the begining of the video, and without fighting against the auto pilot who want to turn on the last trimmed position

I believe he has switched off the yaw Chanel or all Chanel’s of the autopilot.

So the shark won’t  fight his inputs.
This video is a demo flight to show the agility of the the shark.

If you notice, the pilot squeezes the stick and leaves it tight for maneuvers, occasionally opening his hand to disengage the trim and let the shark's autopilots re-stabilize the helicopter.

There is an option in DCS so that you can modify the way in which you control the stick trim, so that by pressing the button you can move the helicopter freely and when you release it, the autopilots will stabilize the flight.

The squeezing is not holding down the trim button ! Ist’s just shortly relaxing his hand from pushing the stick .
you can clearly see the he is depressing the trimmbutton just 5 or 6 times in the whole video .

@Schlomo1933I will try your advice, but it appears that BS became much stiffer since BS2 modification (the green Halloween screen. Two major changes were introduced:

- yaw became stiff as hello, no matter what you do

- 2 second firing delay was introduced.

The problem I see is I can not turn as fast as the video suggests it should be possible.

Did anyone manage to turn as fast and nimble as in video?

The perceived problems are caused by controller settings and limitations of the equipment available to us simmers. In other words, the autopilot/controls dampening modeling in the sim is accurate, but you need a set of real KA50 pedals to experience it. So, it is an unsolvable problem it seems.

What do you mean by "real" KA-50 pedals. I'm honestly curious. Like FFB pedals or similar?
Cheers!

That cant possibly be any better. Unless you use rudder trim.  I have ffb stick and among its many advantages is it stay where you trim the stick.
Appart from everything can be adjusted I see no solution to change the behaviour of the chopper.
Like most post here I am too no real KA 50 pilot. But I know that what said here is they want another stabilisation solution.
Like the autopilot disconnect the moment you touch the controls.
To me knowing what to turn off and on KA 50 is probably the best fighting chopper in game. If you like to do things yourself. You have navigation system to add waypoints and in no means is left behind by other choppers. I think AH 64 is weirder to fly, and I do not intend to say something is wrong with it. I am talking about my impression.

Hence why I asked. I have FFB sticks myself.
Personally I find the Apache super easy to fly, and more natural than the Ka-50. Maybe because it's similar to the other helis. 'Sgonna be interesting with the Chinook.
