boerdi Posted October 22, 2023 Posted October 22, 2023 (edited) [edit] SOLVED: go low (below 700ish feet) and fast instead of high and slow ---------- Greetings, CCIP seems to work with regular Mk82 bombs but not with Snake Eyes Track: patch 2.9 - mk82 snake eye ccip not working.trk Mission file: CCIP Test Hornet.miz Air start close to Kobuleti Cross. Three Hornet slots with different loadouts: only Mk82, only Mk82 Snake Eye and mix of both. Track recorded with mixed loadout aiming for the center where the two runways meet. No probs with Mk 82: And whatever this is with the Snake Eyes Edited October 23, 2023 by boerdi
razo+r Posted October 22, 2023 Posted October 22, 2023 (edited) Snakeeyes, especially in retarded mode, basically impact straight down (to simplify things). So the Pipper cannot show you the impact point in straight and level flight, especially not at 1000ft AGL. On top of that, they are also heavily affected by wind, which is why your pipper is more to the side than with low drag bombs. Edited October 22, 2023 by razo+r 1
boerdi Posted October 22, 2023 Author Posted October 22, 2023 (edited) I am aware of the wind affecting the pipper. Pre-2.9 I could use the Snake Eyes in high drag mode without any issue with CCIP. Now I am getting no usable drop solution. [edit] Also referring to the official training mission (how I used Snake Eyes in the past with CCIP): Edited October 22, 2023 by boerdi
vCUJOv Posted October 22, 2023 Posted October 22, 2023 (edited) Same here. Tested in FF mode from FL20 45deg dive . No IP visible on the HUD Edited October 22, 2023 by vCUJOv

[edit] Also referring to the official training mission (how I used Snake Eyes in the past with CCIP): He's at 540Kts and ~550ft AGL and barely gets a solution. You are not only slower but also much higher. Get lower and faster and the solution should appear. Below my attempt in 2.9 (Though I must admit that I find it weird that the minimum altitude for release thing being above looks suspicious) Edited October 22, 2023 by razo+r 1
boerdi Posted October 22, 2023 Author Posted October 22, 2023 (edited) @razo+r I concur with your result and thanks for the insight! During testing my past self flew too high and slow and I have no idea why caveman-me tested at 1k feet... because i always flew low and fast in the past Was just back from re-testing when you posted your reply The CCIP solution caught on just below 700 feet Edited October 22, 2023 by boerdi
