Written guide for OMM?

I don't know where to ask where to look, but what I am looking for is:
Written guide (not a video) on configuring OMM for mods. 
I find posts talking about mods/omm, but I cannot find an actual guide. 
I guess I am unsure what search references to use other than OMM. 

Is there a list of 'must have' or common core mods across multiple servers?

I still use its predecessor - OvGME, as it's apparently a bit easier to set up than OMM, but have you read through OMM's dedicated thread?
