I just installed a new 1TB SSD that I was going to install DCS into. I have seen YouTube videos that have you just cut (or copy and then later delete the original) and then paste into the new SSD. The  videos say no issues, but wouldn't it be simpler to just install DCS World 2.9 right from the website directly into the new SSD drive? That is what I planned to do, but nowhere during the download/installation process of DCS world did it ever give me a choice of which drive to install it to! It just went straight into the old HDD again - with no option to choose installation destination! Is that right? IF so, I guess the only way to get it to the new SSD now is to cut/paste. My concern is that there must be some other installation entries/processes that were written in the registry or who knows where that still reference the old HDD (original DCS location) that might bugger up the works? Hence my desire to simply just install the whole program right into the new SSD. Is there actually a destination choice upon installing that I missed?  Thanks!

Seems some users experience that exact issue from time to time. Why are you so eager to download everything again, when you can just move the whole thing? Just move it, update the shortcuts with the new path and do a repair. Get Skatezilla's app while you're at it and forget about the shortcuts forever.
Cheers!

Thanks for the quick reply. When you  move the whole thing, there aren't any hidden paths/references to anything from the original installation that could screw up the program from it's new location? That is what my main concern is with just cutting and pasting the whole thing. I just don't know enough about that process to be certain that there aren't any artifacts left in some registry entry that would conflict with the "move" option vs fresh install option.

Also, could you explain the reason for a "repair" and exactly what repair are we talking about? Thanks

DCS does not need anything hidden in registry. Just make sure your shorcuts point to the new location and you're good to go. No need to reinstall and redownload.

Repair is the process of checking all game files to make sure they are correct version and content by checking their hash values. Cleaning is the process of removing all unnecessary files from game directory.
