TACAN for F-14A/B

Hey, I've been trying to use the TACAN with the F-14, and for some reason it won't tune to a carrier. I spawned the Stennis in, set it's TACAN to 74X, hopped in the tomcat (from the air), made sure both the Pilot and RIO had TACAN set to 74X, was on the Radio frequency of the Stennis, but when I brought up the JESTER menu, I did NAVIGATION-> TACAN->TUNE TAC-> but for some reason the Stennis would not show up. I could tune it to a Ground Station just fine, but not to the carrier. It would not point me to the Stennis on the TACAN page on the TID or the BDHI or give me the range, even when I was in Transmit/Receive mode for the TACAN. Anything I'm doing wrong? (This is my first post btw)

What's your version of DCS? Please check in right bottom corner of main menu.

Can you share the mission? Make sure the task is set in the first waypoint (#0).

Check F9 view if the carrier has already spawned.

Check also the Voicechat setting in opttions/audio.

it works now (turns out i just had to add in a few destroyers and cruisers around the carrier)

No, other ships are not needed for TACAN to work.

I've been having a problem with the TACAN since at least 2.9..I can't pick up the boat's TACAN until I'm within 20~25 miles. I've been having to use the recovery tanker's TACAN to guide me in until I get pretty close and then switch to the boat's signal. In the hornet, the carrier's TACAN seems to work normally.

What mission? Can you share it?

Running 2.9 and picking up the boat well over 100 miles out from 25,000 feet or so.  It’s a line of sight system, so could be you’re not high enough?
