 Hi,

Not sure this is the correct place for this however as he was an F-14 guy thought it fits.

Does anyone know of any books avaIlable in the UK either by or about Hoot Gibson. I have found one about the WW2 Dive Bomber but it's the F4, F-14, Test Pilot, Astronaut i'm looking for.

I saw an interview with him the other day and am fascinated by his life.

I've searched Google but no joy.

Oh hell, let's go nuts. Swords for forty eight thousand

You might like Riding Rockets by Mike Mullane. He was in the same astronaut class and has coverage of some of Hoot’s antics at NASA. Entertaining and interesting book that will open your eyes with respect to NASA management.

Good friend of mine was a Captain at Southwest and flew with Hoot. He had nothing but good things to say about him.

Thanks for the replies both. That does sound like something that'll be up my street @Victory205. From the Podcasts i've watched featuring him he seems like a really nice chap, fascinating life too. I'll give it a look Thanks for the recommendation.

A few yanks won’t like this (though most will) but if you’re looking for the best pilot with the best insight, read Winkles book. Wings on my sleeves.

The most friendly, interesting and knowledgeable pilot there ever was. And in my book by far the best pilot that ever took to the skies.

You’ll also find some videos of his talks and some documentaries about him on the YouTube. He also did a lovely episode of desert island discs.

Riding Rockets is a great book.

Mullane and Hoot flew together on STS-27 which is covered in some detail. Plus some other Hoot stories.

So ein Feuerball, JUNGE!
