Talon861 Posted November 11, 2023 Posted November 11, 2023 Can we implement the Target Point (TP) function in the hornet. These are not part of the 59 waypoints that exist in the navigation system. The target point system can hold a total of 32 waypoints which are split into two groups as listed below. TP 1-16: On board generated Target Points that can be shared over L16 TP 17-32: These are the TPs received via L16 from other players (i.e. offboard generated). On the HSI and SA page at PB14, the "WPDSG" label would change to "TP...." whenever a ground designation was active (could be from FLIR/HUD/WAYPOINT/JHMCS). The "...." after TP would be the next available onboard TP number in the jet (i.e. 1-16). This enables pilots to quickly save any designation into the mission computer, but more importantly, be able to send that data to another L16 asset with Target Point functionality. There is also a Target Point page which should be selectable in the TAC menu area. This page is simply the list of the available target points in the jet and also includes the button ology for Target Points (transmitting/receiving over L16, cycling up/down, cycling pages, deleting TP data, selecting TPs for transmission over L16 etc) . Whenever the onbaord list is full, new TPs would replace old data start at TP1 unless a specific TP was selected (e.g. if TP11 was currently selected, the label on the HSI/SA page would be "TP11" and when it was pressed, the current data in TP11 would change to whatever the current active designation is). The last element for Target Points are the HOTAS functions to change the current active TP without going into the Target Point page. The HOTAS (whilst in A/G mode only) is to hold the FLIR/RAID button then perform the following castle switch functions: Left - Cycles the TP selector down the list on the target Point page. Right - Cycles the TP selector up the list on the target Point page. Down - Designates the currently selected TP Up - I'm not sure whether this does anything regarding TP functionality. For consideration. Also happy if other players have more specific information about Target Points to help implement this function. 1
Hulkbust44 Posted November 12, 2023 Posted November 12, 2023 What's your source on this? I've studied our Hornet model extensively, and nowhere in my readings of OFP 17C-20X have I seen any mention of this function specifically. Sent from my moto g stylus 5G (2022) using Tapatalk 1
Talon861 Posted November 12, 2023 Author Posted November 12, 2023 If DCS model software is based on OFP 17C-20X then that block may not have integrated TP functionality. That's a shame if that's the case. TP functionality is an awesome enhancer for inter-jet coordination. I'll see if I can find some references
